jonost24
Hi There, Can someone confirm please !!!! If I run my 3.5 V8 off EDIS8 with ford coils, do I need a DB15 connector on MS1 V3 ? On the Extra efi site it says something about this when running multiple coils. Can I get a MS1 that's set up for a 4 cyl ford and use it on my V8 ? Just looking for an experienced view before I commit one way or the other. There is alot of info out there, but when I start I shall be following the the info on LR4x4 :-) Thanks in advance , Jon
Dave W
No, you don't need the extra connector. That's only needed if you drive the coils direct (without EDIS) and you fit the coil drivers inside the MS box. You should never fit the coil drivers in the box anyway IME as they produce too many spikes and induce noise into other areas of the PCB. FridgeFreezer
If I run my 3.5 V8 off EDIS8 with ford coils, do I need a DB15 connector on MS1 V3 ? No, as per Dave's comments. The EDIS goes outside the ECU and does the hard work. Can I get a MS1 that's set up for a 4 cyl ford and use it on my V8 ? It depends what you mean by "set up for" - the ECU could be built the same but all the settings could be totally wrong, or the ECU could be built totally different so none of the settings would work on your engine anyway. Have a read of the big thread in the tools'n'fab forum as that covers almost everything.
