LR NUT
Hi Has anyone fitted a power module the ones that you get on ebay for around £10.00, which claim to give out extra 20bhp!!! Has one fitted one and noticed a difference in performance and mpg without causing any damage? OR is it just cheap carp to avoid!
FridgeFreezer
Most of them are only a resistor that goes inline with the air or coolant temperature sensor to make it appear colder and make the ECU put a bit more fuel in. Component cost about 1p, real power gain is questionable (although the car may well feel different, it may not actually have gained anything and may well have lost, as with most boy racer big exhaust systems), and pratting about with your engine with eBay bobbins seems rather a waste of time. In short - even if it does gain you a couple of BHP, how much difference is that going to make to your life?
Bowie69
Cheap carp, most, if not all are just a resistor you stick in the air temp sender plug, which makes it over-fuel a bit, result = black smoke, poor(er) fuel economy, mildy more power and a quick way to cook your catalytic converter! Resistors are pence for a strip of 10, no wonder they like selling them for £10 a shot
