Hi there

My 54 plate Freelanders Sat Nav has just decided that it doesn't like the disc, keeps coming up with 'insert installation disc.' I have had the car 2 years and have never even touched the disc, why has it just decided now that it's not going to work? Maybe cus we are getting a caravan and need the sat nav now?

Any advice please.

Zoe

A lot of electronic problems can be solved by completely powering off the unit waiting a few minutes and then restarting. By this I don't just mean turn the ignition off, I would find the fuse that drives the radio, satnav etc and remove that for a while then try again. If that doesn't work then look for a replacement unit as these things are very difficult to fix.

PS other solution is BUY A MAP, I gave up on my sat nav and where I work I often get phone calls from people who get lost following them and haven't got a clue where they are.

Have you tried taking out the disk and cleaning it? They can attract a fair amount of dust.

Have tried cleaning the disc but to to avail.

However, the whole unit does not work at all now as my ever so helpful partner decided to disconnect the battery and now I have to input a code which I do not have. Extremely not happy now!!
