LandyLee
I have no doubt that the suppliers are entirely reputable, but considering the 1000's of blank V5's stolen from DVLA we don't have to worry about buying a ringer then? jeez is that true ???? L835
From the DVLA website The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has issued an alert listing serial numbers of vehicle registration documents that have been stolen and may be in use by car criminals. According to the DVLA, the documents could be being used by criminals to accompany stolen vehicles that have had their identity changed to match that of a legitimate vehicle - a practice known as "cloning". The stolen certificates have a different background colour on the Notification of Permanent Export (V5C/4) tear off slip on the second page, which looks mauve on the front and pink on the reverse. On legitimate documents they should be mauve on both sides. The DVLA warned people not to purchase a vehicle, but to report the matter to the police if the serial number of the registration document fell within the following ranges - BG9167501 to BG9190500, BG9190501 to BG9214000, BG8407501 to BG8431000 and BG9282001 to BG9305000. Nick Lindsay, director of independent vehicle information specialist HPI, said: "The theft of these documents is alarming and will undoubtedly add to the growing number of stolen vehicles that are being cloned. The cloned vehicles are sold on to unsuspecting members of the public who suffer significant financial losses when their vehicles are confiscated by the police." and http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7509408.stm the poor guy had been saving to buy a land rover.....BBC recon upto 80,000 stolen v5's. carl_1880
Hi Guys.. First post here so bare with me!! Sorry to bring back such an old thread also. I am trying to find information on the subject Land Rover EWY 883Y. It was my first car and my Dad bought it for me when I was 15 and we did it up! I had it up until I was 22 and had to sell it as I travelled 100+ miles a day to a new job. I am now nearly 30 and want my pride and joy back!!! I'm sorry I missed the eBay ad or I would have bought it. The eBay link is dead now as it was over 90 days ago. Can any of you help? What condition was she in on the eBay pics? Can anyone remember what the sellers ID was on eBay? Where was she when advertised? It's a long shot I know - I have filled in a V888 DVLA form and should hear back if I can have the registered keepers name and address in about 3 weeks. But any more information would be great! I can also confirm that EWY 883Y was a genuine series III county SWB 88' FROM 1983. Marine Blue in colour (I had her professionally sprayed) White stripes down the sides, safari roof and large white steel wheels.. (Yes the spare was a lot smaller) Genuine thanks in advance to any users that may be able to help me. With best regards, Carl.
