landrover598
On a 90 diesel tank, there are 3 electrical terminal, and 3 wires, any ideas which wire goes to which terminal? I knew i should have made a note of it before i unplugged them

landrover598
earth --- black fuel gauge --- green/black trace low fuel warning light --- White/Slate trace Thanks, but which terminal on the tank is earth, gauge and warning?
western
if the sender has a threaded stud between the 2 spade connectors, that's the earth, the fuel gauge wire fits the connection with a black plastic sleeve & low fuel goes to the red sleeve connection. [provided it's similar to the new 110 tank sender I'm looking at]

western
It's got 3 silver male spade connectors in a line on the tank Ok, if you take the sender unit is out of the tank, the earth should be connected to the sender plate the low fuel connection should/may have a red/black wire to the lower area of the senders variablr resistor unit the gauge connection should/may have a brown/white wire to the opposite side of resistor unit but higher up the wire colours above are from the new 110 tank unit I have here, so colours may be different, but locations are hopefully the same. sharpy
Ok, if you take the sender unit is out of the tank, the earth should be connected to the sender plate the low fuel connection should/may have a red/black wire to the lower area of the senders variablr resistor unit the gauge connection should/may have a brown/white wire to the opposite side of resistor unit but higher up the wire colours above are from the new 110 tank unit I have here, so colours may be different, but locations are hopefully the same. sorry to poke my nose in, I have just done this, black is middle, on mine the wiring is an abortion so mine goes yellow, black, grey trace, i found out by messing, take the sender out and choose each position, ie. empty, full. the Haynes states black, grey/trace. green, BYG is how i remember it, i think as long as the earth (black) is in the middle you can figure it out? Part1cle
Must be an Easter thing - I'm just remaking my loom from the main loom to the tank! I have been getting strange readings at the gauge and thougt I'd check the wiring out and found 3 "joints", two twisted and taped and one using a 10A choccy block! The wiring insulation has hardened with age/heat/oil/diesel too. With the new loom in I'll check the gauge next as the sender was making the gauge move to half full when out of the tank and moved by hand but I guess the full reading isn't being achieved due to excessive resistance in the old loom. Comments anyone? Thanks for all the above input. Henry
