Dorsetfreelander
I have a 2004 TD4 auto, this morning I heard a buzzing noise from behind the drivers seat when I turned the key and before the engine started. The car runs OK but it sounds like a fuel pump problem developing. Am I on borrowed time and how easy is it to replace given that I am going to drive to the South of France in a couple of weeks ? Any suggestions welcome. Cheers Dennis
FridgeFreezer
Shouldn't be hard to replace if it's anything like other models of that era, probably a hatch in the boot floor for it. They're not cheap new though
rustymark
Are you sure the noise is not the ABS pump working? On my TD4 you can hear that and the under bonnet pump running with the ignition on for a good while then a relay clicks and it all shuts up! Pop the bonnet and turn on the ignition and have a listen around, ABS pump is offside front, fuel pump is nearside wing towards windscreen.
