oily wheels?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have oil weeping from the wheel hubs on the outside, i have checked my Haynes manual and oily leaks on the wheels are generally on the inside, brake pipe, swivel joints etc

See pictures

Any ideas team? what needs replacing?

And also when a petrol tank leaks can they be repaired?

And if you want to off round experience drive the road of the Sheffield, the pot holes and cracks are great!!

Cheers All

Dan

oil on outside of the wheel normally comes from a dislodged hub centre cap [the black plastic bit] or it's got a split or hole in it, other place to look is the hub driving member bolts, make sure they are tight & the gasket between the driving member & hub is intact [no damage]

Up to a point. However the palaver of getting all the vapour out prior to welding up bigger (e.g. bigger than tiny) holes isn't worth it: buy a new tank and treat it inside and out before fitting it.

The leak fixing stuff isn't far off the cost of a new tank anyway.
