del
Next problem in my engine change saga is the fan . Ive put a 200 tdi in my 90 fitting a set of p38 double fans and a thermo switch thats operated with a thermal probe fitted it the top hose. When the truck has stopped the fan keeps running obviously sensing the hot water after about 10 mins i ended up disconecting the fan thinking by the time the waters cooled down its going to run the battery down, anyone got any suggestions? Retroanaconda
The feed to the relay (through the sensor) should be fed from an ignition-switched source. Some setups have a controller that keeps it on for a minute or two after switch-off in order to combat heat-soak, but this would require extra electronics and isn't strictly necessary
Puffernutter
I bet that you sensor is in the top hose? Hot water rises!! If you want it to be powered "unswitched" you should put the sensor in the bottom hose! Why do you need it running after the engine has stopped anyway? The 200TDi with a viscous fan didn't have that luxury! I'd switch it through the ignition. Cheers Peter
