R380 gearbox disco/defender

Hi wonder if someone know the answer to this one,

i currently have fitted in my 90 challenge truck a 300tdi with discovery r380, was looking at changing my disco box for

a defender r380,

Question is how much shorter is it??? im trying to get more room in front of my engine for my winch with out the going down the road of cutting the whole front off and ive gotta re weld the engine mounts anyway

Defender R380 and Disco R380 are both the same length, the only difference is the defender box has the shifter in the right place.

they are not the same length. The Disco box has a longer input shaft and bell housing.

300TDI defender and 300TDI discovery R380 boxes have the same bellhousing (FTC3921) and inputshaft (FTC5046).
