stuck
Hi all, Quick question are the axles from a P38 4.6 any stronger than the ones from a RRC? Thanks, Mick.
jad
yes. im not an expert but they will be 24 spline rather than 10 and have 4 pin diffs i would imagine
Henry Webster
Potentially will be a bit stronger, especially the diff, but the diff is on the other side of the car, so not necessarily a straightforward swap! Also I believe that Disco 2 internals do not fit so you may struggle to upgrade them.

zim
Only the rear diff on a 4.6 is 4 pin. G
dirtydiesel
P38 axles share nothing in common with rrc axles, Even the 4 pin diff in the rear is not interchangeable due to the diff to axle case having a different bolt pattern to rrc axles
dirtyninety
and the front axles have a UJ's instead of CV's (i think?)
dirtydiesel
and the front axles have a UJ's instead of CV's (i think?) No, they definatly have cv joints. The booted cv and open swivel arrangement is very close to whats seen in the disco2 axles. A permanantly 4wd car with uj's in the front shafts would drive like it had square wheels.
