300 tdi dash fan

Hi,

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get the heater/AC fan out to check for a noise with it.

Get a Tick-Tick-Tick when it is running.

Possible somehting stuck in it of bad motor bearings.

Do I need to remove the dash or can I get to it without this?

Thanks

Peter

Are you double jointed and do you have at least a day to spare...

I changed the heater matrix in a 300Tdi recently and it was a dash out job :-(

Getting at the blower motor may be slightly easier, I can't remember as I had to go the whole hog any way!

I remember correctly it is to the left of the central heater block and it may have come off separately!

Others may have more recent (and better!) memories!

Cheers

Peter

The heater motor/fan unit can be seen from the passenger footwell just undo and release, it's the 200 series that requires some of the dash out to replace. Even the heater matrix can now be replaced without removing the dash it can be seen to the left of the fuse box area at the back takes an hour although pipes have to be cut I believe.

Thanks for all the responces.

Much easier than I expected.

Three screws and found top motor bracket broken.

This caused the the brushers to run down onto the winding joints causing a Tick-Tick-Tick noise.

Replace the fan motor and is now working fine.
