bad wolf
I have a 1967 series 11a and I was wondering what the legal maximum for towing is (weight). It is a shorty but has a LWB front axle. Any thoughts Regards
Retroanaconda
It should be listed in the Series IIA Owners Manual.
bad wolf
page 123.... 1800 kg, surprisingly more than all the other models including the forward control. Thank you for that.
mickeyw
I'm sure mine had a plate on the bulkhead stating 2 imperial tons being the limit, which I've just checked is 1814KG, so we agree
Rich_P
I've never seen a plate on a 2A stating the towing limit. The rating given in the manual is a drawbar pull, not the same as a trailer gross. It's a topic that seems to be argued a lot by people, with no one really coming up with anything obvious to say it can tow only 2 tons or if it can tow up to the 3.5 ton limit like later vehicles. Story has it that the later S3 had a rating of 3.5 ton however?
secondjeremy
My original spec 1978 S3 SWB diesel states 2 tonnes on the serial number plate. My 1982 S3 109 (originally 4 cylinder petrol) is silent on the subject.
