reverard
Hi I just bought a Defender 110 300TDI and discover there is no air filter or hoses connected to the turbo. I have sourced the parts but wondered where the aire filter mounting bracket bolts to. It looks like the engine blck which means I will have to loosen all bolts and retighten in sequence. I cannot seem to find an image without the air filter box attached (which stops me from seeing how the bracket attaches) Any advice would be much appreciated Richard
western
no need to undo all the headbolts, just the 2 which secure the air filter housing mount. see page 564 for hoses & page 565 for the mounting bracket
reverard
thanks for the help and your response. I wasn't sure that undoing just the two bolts could cause the head to warp....obviously not thanks again Richard
western
a stone cold head won't warp, it needs heat to do that.

CwazyWabbit
To set your mind at rest some more I did the exact same thing about 2000 miles ago, no head problems so far Just undid the two head bolts then tightened as per manual, just as Ralph has said. CwazyWabbit
Manual says can be used 5 times if I remember correctly .... maybe it's 6 ....
CwazyWabbit
Rave states cylinder head bolts may be used up to a maximum of 5 times.
arthur90
A bigger worry might be why has it no hoses and what might it have sucked in without them. Could it be a way of stopping oil from the breather getting to the engine as fuel?
reverard
thanks guys plan to do this job this week I wonder if a lot of carp has been pulled into the intercooler whilst there has been no air filter attached?
