reb78
I bought an X brake ages ago from a chap on here. I was waiting to fit it until i had sorted my leaky transfer box out as the drum protected the shoes from the oil! I have a nice new cable with the x brake that i wanted to use, but i cant see how it fits to my current lever. I think the x brake came off of a td5. My truck was originally a 19J TD (1989). Am i right in thinking that the cables that are supplied for the TD5 & 300tdi are different to the cable supplied if you have an older model? Shame if it is as the one i have is nice and new and would have meant i could get rid of the worn cable thats on there at the moment! Disco-Ron
what about getting a lever from a 300 then..???
western
you need a 200Tdi or TD cable with the fork end fitting at both ends, a 300tdi/td5 cable will not fit, X-Eng do state this on the website. http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-BrakeDef.asp & see my fitting thread in our tech archive. GBMUD
The handbrake lever end is different on Td5 (and possibly 300Tdi, I forget) as it fits with a circlip rather than a screw thread. Call X-eng on 01403 888388, speak to Si and he will sell you the correct cable for your car/brake for £18.99 less a 10% forum discount. Simples.
