nitrotom93
Hi, I'm relatively new to land rovers and driving so just after some help as the MOT is coming up soon! Basically the reversing lights, hazards and horn have all stopped work at around the same time as far as i can tell, for the indicators to work i have to have the hazard switch in the on position otherwise when the switch is off i have no indicators at all. I have checked the reversing light bulb and that looks fine Just wondering if theres any way possibly that these could be linked! Thanks Tom
daveturnbull
Check your fuses for the reversing light & horn issues. Sounds like you might need a new hazard switch too.
LandyLee
Dont panic about the reversing lights , not part of the test . Check the fuse contacts as well as the fuses , get alot of corroded fuseboxes

LandyLee
http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/doitonline/bl/mottestingmanualsandguides/mottestingmanualsandguides.htm This lists the entire lighting guidelines I go by when testing a vehicle , havent checked reversing lamps for years , actually they.ve even stopped us tapping lights to ensure they still work. Watch out from next March airbag lights, tow sockets and a load of new stuff such as TRE gaiters, ball joint gaiters will be a failable item

pete3000
Fair enough, that's just what I was told by my local MOT tester! bit like the spare wheel and the plod, it's not law to have a spare wheel. In fact a lot of new cars don't have one.....at all. But if you do carry one it has to be road legal i.e have enough tread and be serviceable. Carrying a bald spare will cost you 3 points and or £1000 fine? BTW do under car green neons, illuminated washer jets, blue interior lighting and strobing red led bumper strips count as sidelighting? :-0 Pete. In blackwood on a thursday (cruise) night , you are required to have undercar lights, blue sidelights , loud exhaust and a 2000 watt stereo ,,,, believe me you should see the chav chariots

LandyLee
That link will come very useful! are there any other sort of common things i should be looking out for? with regards to what ? if its lighting then headlight aim, output, light security , hazard switches go faulty , generally rear stop/tail lamps give a few issues. defenders give alot of issues with worn seatbelts, cracking and corrosion to aluminium panels in the prescribed seat belt area . Alot of local testers run away from land rovers, can't blame them they can be hard work to mot compared to usual euro box
