Diablo Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 My fuel guage glass is covered in loads of bits of cack (largely plastic from the lamp surround in the back which has always been half melted), is it possible to get the front off to give it a clean? CwazyWabbit Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 If it's the same as the speedos and tachos that I have done then you can prise the back of the metal ring up all the way around using two small screwdrivers. Poke one between the case and the edge of the rim then put the second screw driver between the first screwdriver and case to create a fulcrum to give you something to lever against. Do this all the way around to prise the surround up enough to pop the front off. Do what you wanted to do cleaning wise. Put the glass and metal rim back on then lay it face down on some cloth on a piece of wood and use a g clamp or similar to hold the guage down to the wood. Get a lump of plastic or wood and then using this and a hammer tap the rim that you prised up back into place all the way around the guage.
