Hi,

Please help!.

Will a set of 1999 Freelander Alloys fit my 2001 Freelander if I use 5mm or 10mm spacers? and if so which size is best? 5mm or 10mm?

I would fit a set of Alloys from a later Freelander but due to financial restrictions I just cant afford the prices most are advertised for.

Please help

Thanks

You do not say what size alloys you want to fit, but I believe that there should be no problem. I have fitted 15" Freelander alloys to my 2005 TD4 (which was originally fitted with 17" alloys). I believe the problem lies with some of the 16" alloys. Those that allow for the bigger brake discs are indicated by small round indentations, clearly visible on the rims. As far as I know the upgraded brakes were only fitted after 2001.

I think it's also to do with the dished brake drums fitted on the back from 2001, personally I would either stick with what you've got or save the pennies / look round for a set of post-2001 wheels. Spacers just seem like a bodge to me, and technically you would need to tell your insurance company about them too (I'll say it before the forum police arrive).

If you are just struggling to find alloys, try Boxer Salvage or 4lrspares, I've used both for freelander bits and they're both very reasonable.

Mind you, if money's that tight I'd suggest there are better things to spend it on than tarting about with wheels.
