mel Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Hi, I'm hoping someone can offer some advice as to why would the diesel filter under the o/s wheel arch leak on my D2 ? I changed it a while ago as i had trouble starting and its been fine since but i've noticed recently that its been dropping diesel on the drive. BogMonster Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Where is the leak exactly? One common(ish) error is to fail to notice the O ring seal off the old filter has remained stuck to the filter body and then put the new one on, so you get two O rings sitting one on top of the other and it leaks between the rings. Other possibilities are the sensor is leaking around the bottom (another O ring I think), the push-fit connecters are leaking or the pipes have chafed through. IIRC there was a technical bulletin on chafing pipes in that area a few years back, maybe your vehicle got missed... You really need to clean it all up and figure out exactly where the leak is. Disco DJ Posted April 2, 2012 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Just a thought, are you sure it's the filter? I've had a pipe on top of my fuel tank leak three times now.
