2 Wheel drive

After a heated discussion in the pub last night I need to ask a question.

One of the lads seems to think that a 2 wheel drive Freelander TD4 Automatic is much more economical on Diesel than a 4 wheel drive version.

Now logic tells me this is correct, but can someone confirm it please.

I have been toying with the idea for quite a while but didn"t know whether there was anything to gain from doing it.

Cheers

Like Nickcc, I ran 2wd whilst swapping VCU bearings. It did seem nippier and I got about 1-2mpg better economy, but that was only a short test and well within the error for such a short test. I found that it felt much more stable and planted when in 4wd.
