Trevorevans
Hi I've run a search on this but have turned up nothing so far so am after some help/ ideas. I went out earlier this evening in the light and parked up at my destination, when I returned in the dark I jumped in started the truck and switched on the headlights, the blue main beam indicator illuminated on the dash so I pulled the lever back till it clicked but the main beam indicator remained on. I then looked up expecting to see bright lights but could not see very much at all and thought I had no lights, on getting out to check i found I only had dipped headlights. No matter what position the switch is in that's all I get is dipped beam no 'flashers' either but still the main beam indicator remains illuminated in both dipped and headlight positions. It seems also that there is a relay in the passenger footwell that clicks when I operate the stalk switch. As its dark and the neighbours won't be too happy if I'm out there knocking about in torchlight I am after a few ideas or at least a starting point for my investigations after work tomorrow. Thanks in advance. Trucks a 1998 300 tdi disco ES.
Orgasmic Farmer
Do a search for Dim-dip relay not had experience of them but know they are problematic on some ages of Discoveries. They can be easily bypassed IIRC
fozsug
I had similar but couldnt get of main beam and it was the stalk itself.
barriesheene
I'd start with the relay. Just cos its clicking doesnt mean its making a good contact. Swap it with a good un and see what happens. You havnt got spots spliced in somewhere have you shorting out the main beam ??? just a thought.
