ajh Posted June 3, 2012 Share Posted June 3, 2012 The rear axle housing I'm using on a D90 was from a D1 and I'm wondering if I have to stick with D1 brakes/rotors or if the housing is the same as the D90 and the Defender calipers have the additional offset to use the Defender rotors or not; since they do appear to be different. Retroanaconda Posted June 3, 2012 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Well the 90 rear brake discs are the same part number as later Disco 1 rear discs, as are the calipers, so that would imply compatibility. Earlier Disco 1 axles were imperial though, and used different sized bolts for fixing the calipers. Think the earlier ones were 7/16" UNF and later were M12, but the issue is whether the bolts will fit properly in the new calipers. So I guess it could depend on the age of the Disco 1 that the axle came off, I believe they changed from imperial to metric around the middle-to-end of the 200Tdi era.
