GW8IZR
Hi In my early engine supplement it suggests Hylomar 102 as an injection seal for the rear main bearing cap. Any suggestions for alternate products please? Anything better out there? Regards Paul
secondjeremy
Well it seems to be a black silicone RTV sealant - so no-doubt someone else makes it. Why do you need something better?
GW8IZR
Hi Well product does improve over the years and maybe something better is available now. I find the viscosity a little high to successfully inject whereas some of the loctite power cans do a better job of void filling. I did some test pieces by milling a slot into a bit of steel similarly shaped to the main bearing cap then split it in two after it had cured, it took many attempts to get a good fill. Of course on the rear main bearing - you only know when it leaks. Regards Paul
