discomikey
rear axles are a heck of a lot simpler, as long as the diff, and shafts are good and it seals well. the only real issues can be with wheelbearing/brakes.id always replace seal lands if you have any doubt at all, as after all its the only thing between your nice bearings and silty muddy waterat which point its irrelevant how good a bearing you use, it will eat them all
UdderlyOffroad
Know how you feel, my front axle cost £300 notes in parts, and seemed to take aaaaaages. I binned the rusty biscuit tin lids masquerading as brake disc shields too!
gadget
Aaaaaaaages is right. It's never ending.
gadget
Spent a little time today trying to polish the seal land on the half shaft. The pits are too deep New shaft on its way.

gadget
Very tidy I stripped and rebuilt all my calipers before the MOT last year. Buy extra metal rings for the piston dust boots Expect to bugger up at least one. I've got two more jobs on my list after this axle. Either gearbox swap or replace the noisy bearings in the extension housing, and replace the turbo. At that point i can start to consider the bodywork. Oh, and remove the winch, hydraulics, tank, pto and associated stuff. My wife doubts my sanity with all this...
