IVANHOE
According to the only dimensioned drawing I can find............ from chassis datum to front spring chassis bush should be.......... P = 212.7 Datum to row of bulkhead bracket bolts.................. S = 120.6 So spring bush to bulkhead bracket bolts....... = 92.1 Now on my chassis.............. datum to chassis bush = 200 so 12.7 or 1/2" higher which gives 79 Anyone know why??? Maybe a 2a thing?? My chassis is 4 section corner welded............ or maybe a 2.6 thing?? Or maybe a station wagon thing?? Very curious, cheers, Andy . EDIT. P.S ITS A SERIES
Daan
You think you can add a scan of the drawing, so we sing from the same sheet? Daan
IVANHOE
Here ya go................. I have recently seen another drawing with a datum point below the chassis but the dimensions cross reference the same. Cheers --- Andy ---
Gazzar
Well, I've just measured my 109 4 cyl SW Richards 4 section chassis - trickier to do than you'd think - and the measurement I get for Datum line (top of steering relay crossmember to top of fuel tank crossmember) to the bulkhead support bolt holes in chassis is 120mm allowing for warp in plank, and parallax error. Hope this helps. G.
IVANHOE
Cheers for your efforts. Mine is 120 too................................ its the chassis spring bush that I'm questioning.................. which can be easily measured by its relationship to the bulkhead bracket chassis holes............. if you get my drift. ie. what is the measurement from bulkhead bracket holes to spring bush hole. mine is 79 but the drawings suggest it should be 92 Cheers --- Andy ---
Gazzar
Gotcha, I'll look later on, presume its vertical separation, rather than distance? Was the chassis ever repaired? G.
IVANHOE
Repaired loads but not in that area. It must have left the factory like it is............... just cant get my head around why it doesn't match the available drawings. Yes, horizontal line through the 3 bulkhead bracket holes, then measure down vertical from said line to bush. All the other measurements check out fine. Gazzar
Well, now, Isn't that curious! Mine is roughly 8 cm, not at all near 9cm. I must measure the Ltwt chassis I have and see if that's the same.
IVANHOE
Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to help. It now seems that the drawings may have an error............. perhaps. cheers --- Andy ---
