Aragorn
Has anyone on here fitted braided brake hoses to a Salisbury rear in place of the hard lines from the T to the calipers? Theres a few posts on the forum, but the ones i can find all seem to be 90 axles. I've had a few issues trying to get them to fit, namely the banjos not clearing the lugs on the caliper, and the offside hose fitting a bit peculiarly due to the way the 110 T piece sits. Hopefully someones fitted these and can give me some pointers to solve the issue? Cheers Kev
dailysleaze
I plumbed the lines straight into the caliper with a male union And the t piece like this
Aragorn
Yeh so your axle setup (calipers/T-piece) is exactly the same as mine. Instead of looping up and round, my hoses have a 90 degree banjo fitting on the caliper end, which is intended to keep the hoses nice and tight into the caliper but they dont go in far enough to clear the little lugs on the caliper: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbzidq0af6s6bmt/IMG_20130702_174301.jpg At the T piece end the hose swoops out rearwards, and i'm wondering if i'll have clearance to the fuel tank: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t8sr4oc8abkksgu/IMG_20130702_175257.jpg If you compare it to white90's post here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=54092 You can see the 90 degree banjo keeping everything tucked in nice and tight, and also the rover axles's t piece is much further forwards, meaning you dont have the loop of hose pointing out rearwards. If you try to turn the salisbury T piece round so the hose points sideways like the rover axle, the hose passes right thru the bump stop. I'm wondering if i'll get away with a 45 degree banjo on the caliper end, or if i should try grinding the lugs on the caliper down to allow the 90 degree banjo to seat properly. I dont like the idea of attacking brake calipers with a grinder though, even if it is just a small lug on the back!
simonr
I can't remember the specifics (long time ago!) but the hoses came from Llama4x4! Si
Aragorn
Yeh they're Llama4x4 hoses i've got. I've been corresponding with Dave and hes not heard of this issue before, and recons his 110 calipers dont have the same lugs that stop mine fitting. Clearly theres been some design change/revision at some point which alters things. My calipers are new, and the calipers in the above pic by dailyslease also look new, So i imagine the design has changed a bit since they were originally produced? Just need to figure out the best way round the issue!
