Hybrid_From_Hell
Yup AC sets that are any good are hugely more expensive than a decent DC set Whats your budget ?
tomcat404
as much as needed but as cheap as possible. I have been looking at these but there are so many chinese versions on the Market? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X-Calibur-Inverter-welder-Tig-MMA-AC-DC-200Amp-Loads-of-welding-rods-240v-VGC-/121194490872?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c37c12bf8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAHLWERK-AC-DC-TIG-ARC-200-amp-HF-Inverter-Welder-with-PULSE-230V-/151112920948?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item232f082f74
roguevogue
I would buy a used industrial machine, this is a nice little DC tig. I have a Murex Transtig AC/DC 200 (ignore the 3 phase plug), which is not what you would call portable but runs on single phase (32A supply) and will weld Ali lovely. I can't find one on ebay at the moment but that's where mine came from. Approx £300-£400.
mickeyw
We had the same Murex Nick linked too where I used to work. Damn good machine it was. I should think in the 2nd hand market a lot of people are put off by the shere size of the plant. Everyone seems to want compact stuff for home, hardly surprising really.
