zbd31
Hi all, I have just bought a 1990 with a 2ootdi conversion, temp gauge has never really budged when driving, just checked the thermostat to find that there wasnt one fitted, after fitting a new one the temp reads really high.i am a little confused as to which temp sender unit to buy is it prc8593 or prc6663 on a few forums people have said that it should be 8593 but have just contacted frog island a 4x4 and they said that is should be prc6663 Any advice would be great!!! western
prc8593 is the defender 200tdi temp sender it has a 5/8 unf thread which won't fit the discovery themostat housing, try prc6663 or the steve parker sender they sell for this engine swap

Landowner
I used a 2.5 td one in my first 200tdi to Defender swap, it fits the disco 200tdi engine and reads correct.
western
that would be either the prc2505 or prc6663
Landowner
that would be either the prc2505 or prc6663 Never looked really, just took it off the 19J and it screwed straight into the 200 tdi, thought it would be best to use it as it came out of the Defender and matched the temp gauge. Will need a new one for my engine swap (Disco 200 into 90) so which one will it be, 2505 or 6663 ?
zbd31
Think i will also replace the thermostat with a genuine one as i have just read up that many aftermarket ones are unreliable....
zbd31
Would it be best to buy a genuine sender unit as well?.....

kvz2000
Definitely not the 2505 as I have the same problem 200tdi in my defender, bought the 2505 as recommended and needle when off the scale after a few minutes. I have tried 3 now and still not found the correct one
Landowner
Definitely not the 2505 as I have the same problem 200tdi in my defender, bought the 2505 as recommended and needle when off the scale after a few minutes. I have tried 3 now and still not found the correct one I once went to a Land Rover dealership to get a new thermostat. Took chassis number with me and gave them the reg, should get what I want I thought. The computer said it could be one of two, man said what colour have you got in now. What is the point I said, it could be the wrong one in now, which one did it come from the factory with I said. Could be one of two he answered, what colour have you got in now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
