Bucky
Picked up a spare wheel carrier at a decent price, stripped it down to get it powder coated and need to source some new bolts, couple of questions: Its this type of carrier To go on this style of rear door It came with two spreader plates for the door, am i likely to run into problems fitting it? Do i need a smooth door? Also, the three wheel threads came with steel nuts, to hold the wheel front and back. Now im putting a alloy on them so obviously the front ones will need to be replaced with alloy nuts but what about the rear ones? Finally the two brackets that attach to the capping and rear crossmember anyone know what bolts are best to use? I was thinking ht stainless? yalan
I made a spreader plate to go on my swing out tailgate..... Picture attached shows what I made .. A couple of strips of angle and 5mm plate. Overkill but its all I had. More pics here if it helps. http://www.85ninety.co.uk/cars/landy90/carrier/carrier.htm I bolted mine up using standard 8.8 M10 bolts. Ibex94
If you want to go stainless then M10 grade A2-70 will suffice with plain washers and nyloc nuts. If you're bolting through the Ali use form g washers on the back.

Bucky
Sorry to double post but can anyone help with this bit? Retroanaconda
Steel back nuts will be fine as long as the wheels will tighten up to them, couple of big washers would provide a flat face to sit against if necessary. A plastic washer could be put on over the top if you are worried about the alloy being damaged.
