missingsid
Just taken two days to fit a new Ring horn from Halfords! My LR has a one piece front end made from the wings, bonnet and front panel, when tilted forward the front panel where the horn is loacted sits nearly horizontal. Fitted the new horn and tested it OK. Put the front end down and it stopped working! Normal expectation is a wiring fault. The front end has a seperate loom with a multi pin connector to the main body, so I pulled the loom apart to look for a short or broken wire. The earths weren't very good and the bullet connectors had degraded but nothing obvious. Next day I rewired the front, new earths and rerouting etc. Tested again and exactly the same, works fine from open until a couplle of degrees from closed. Not wiring then? Nope, there is one position (the one needed to fit it) where the horn stops working!! I had to faff around to find a position where the horn works when closed by fitting it when open! Due to the design (like a m/c style horn) it can only face bacwards so it sounds odd making the front end rattle but finaly it works so I don't need to scream at idiots who cut me up any more! Well perhaps I can get thier attention before screaming now! Marc
tacr2man
Sounds like a totally carp horn to me , should have taken it back and got another . The whole point of facing forward is to project the sound !
