Hi everyone, first ever post hopefully you can help, I have a 300tdi discovery 94 recently when I was driving the instrument lights went out and people were flashing me, I later found my rear lights also had gone out. They all came back on after stopping/setting off back home but this has happened again today, I'm no electrician so any help or where to check I'd be very grateful. Thanks. Mark

Sounds like the infernal MFU (Multi Function Unit).

This little doozie is located behind the drivers side fuse box in the footwell, before you go to the expence of having it replaced however check that all the fuses are good and the earth which is located behind the foot-well plastic panel is not corroded and is also okay, you will find a whole load of relays there also, if you have been in deepish water these may have been wet and are now shorting out so rig up a test bench with a spare relay base, obtainable from any auto electrical outlet and test them, (you will need to obtain two bases as some relays are four and some five pin) a simple set of leads from the Power in and earth connections in the relay base to clips to easliy connect to your battery terminals is all that is needed to power the relay and a multimeter to test the normally open/normally closed contacts.

Or if you haven't been in deepish water... those area's are prone to holding moisture due to having wet footwells from the rubbish insulation soaking up water, or small holes in the bulkhead...

Or not so small holes in there footwells, not to mention leaking windscreen, blocked sunroof drains........etc etc
