Nigelw
Got a bit over zealous with the removal of the air filter on the 200Tdi, been in and out a few times in the last 10,000kms but today the rubber seal was stuck solid! 10mins drifting it out with a bit of wood But now the back end is galled up a bit as I was leavering and beating it around What to do now? I can get by with it for now but should I look to replace it with another tin can or is there something better out there? I had thought 300Tdi style but I have a second battery and a fuse board with relays where the actual airbox would sit. suggestions..... Bowie69
As long as it uses a paper filter element, go for it. I would go with standard to be honest, you have nothing much to gain, just seal it up well this time, as you mentioned snorkel recently... Nigelw
Hadn't considered the future snorkel fitting TBH (feels a bit silly ) What better suits a snorkel fit on a D1 then, plastic box or tin can type?
Bowie69
Well... given you have a battery where the plastic one would go, I would say the tin can! Easier to weld up and seal a metal one compared to plastic, well imho.
Nigelw
Right then, look for new tin can whilst fettling this one into some sort of shape again. Do you think I could find neoprene seals to seal between filter housing and filer base? Something 5~8mm thick? be a good start if I can't find a good used one
