Gazzar Posted May 25, 2016 Share Posted May 25, 2016 I've a turbo from a defender TDI 200. One of the threaded holes in the cast part of the turbo, has had the threads striped. It's the bit the exhaust impeller sits in. Why can't I repair this with a v-coil insert? Plan B is to drill out the remaining threads, mig in a chunk of steel, drill and retap. Gazzar Posted June 4, 2016 Author Share Posted June 4, 2016 Got in from the annual holidays this evening, and managed to get this done (had to have something to show for the week). It was a real doddle,whether it was a very soft casing, or I've never used quality taps before, or I've just magically got good all of a sudden, but it was a delight to do.
