Kierran.M.110
from looking at the diagram and then looking at the wiring the only thing i can think of being the problem is a bad or no earth will have to investigate further
Kierran.M.110
now i have the brake relay ticking when i turn the key, there has to be an immobiliser gitted to it thats the problem
nickwilliams
The crank relay coil is earthed via a black wire with a green stripe which goes to the terminal on the bulkhead inside the engine bay. This wire is used to inhibit the crank function when not in park on vehicles fitted with an automatic transmission. The engine won't crank unless it is earthed. It took me about four hours to spot this one when I did my re-build.... Nick.
Kierran.M.110
the black green wire goes to a standard plug in the engine bay and i do not believe that there is any more earth terminals to be connected but i will have another look at the weekend. and how would i have a crank relay coil on automatics if i have a mannual
nickwilliams
The relay is fitted to both manual and automatics - it carries the starter solenoid current so it does not have to go through the ignition switch. On manual vehicles, the bullet on the end of the black-green wire is permanently connected to a black wire from the main bulkhead earth terminal. On automatics, it is connected to a switch which is only closed when the gearbox is in 'P'.
Kierran.M.110
so could i try earthing the relay on its own from that wire (i am rubbish at electrics if you havnt guessed already)
western
as above the black/green wire is earthed to the bulkhead earth point, the white/red wires go to starter soleniod & ignition switch, the plain brown is 12v feed from the battery.
Kierran.M.110
had a look this morning and i have the ring terminal for the earth wire attached to the bulkhead already so i tried cutting the black/green and earthing it independantly and it worked so i just have to sort out the bad earth and i should be ready to start once i get diesel and get 2 pipes to go to the heater matrix, cheers for your help.
