So what about sunlight the usual heat radiating from all the nice black winch bumpers?
SG
Black tends to absorb rather then radiate heat
I would guess that plasma tends to lose strengh etc from about 70C upwards. Lowering off on a winch which has inboard brake can cause BIG problems.
It is best to avoid exposing plasma to high temperatures, which I would say for safety sake is anything above 50C for prolonged times period
It should have UV stabilsers in so exposure to sunshine in UK should be no problem. Exposure to high levels of UV in artic regions/sahara for prolong periods of time wil weaken the rope. In those conditions a cover might be adviseable.

When I was at uni my final year project was investigating the effects of using a pressure washer on caving ropes, as opposed to just rinsing them in bath or whatever. Short answer is the pressure pushed grit particles through the rope damaging the fibres on a microscopic level, and rope was weakened as a result.
In case of plasma rope it has a melting point of about 120C as it is made from gel spun highly drawn polyethylene
Steam has a temperature of say 100C. NOT a good idea to expose plasma to such high temperatures!!
So steam presure washing plasma rope is a double NO NO
Bucket of water is fine

Not many though, you see far more jeeps [willys] & classic yank tanks, such as '57 Buicks, from the pre-revolution era; kept now partly as a kind of cultural heritage, although for practical reasons too [limited cash for new cars]
True Mark. There are even restored Fords from 1920's runing around as taxis.
Price of Chevys from 50's are amazing. A beat up Chevy (even by Cuban standards) from 50's goes for 6-8,000 US$ A restored one is worth 15-20,000 US$!!
Its a good place for spotting clasic cars.
Apart from cash problem the Cuban government also has input into who can buy cars or not!!

Hi Gelf
I a fine, am enjoying life.
As you can see I put my hand in my pocket for what I thought was a good bit of kit. Service from Si has been brillant.
Sorry but can´t tell you where I am at the moment as that is on a need to know basis only
A certain person spent most of last year trying to find out where I am.
Just watch Planet Earth it might give you a few clues!!!
What are you doing these days?

PS Edited to add that I just realised the errrr ópinions of Rookie were on a thread I started to gauge peoples opinions on both the X brake and vented brakes for a 110. I read what I thought was unbiased opinion o the quality of the X brake and put my money where y mouth is, so to speak. Nothing I have read has changed my mind. I will be doing some few thousand miles in it shortly and will report back on my experieces

top entertainer though whoever he is, seems a little shortsighted if he is in business though?
Oh dear, oh dear.
Does that mean I have to send the X Brake back to Si and buy the new brick like version of SR????
Strong evidence here.
Somehow I dont think I will be parcelling it back up to Si
Wonder what claims will pop up out of the woodwork next?

Registered to this good forum since reading this thread, have long admired the x-eng brake and intend to get one later in the year. The more you hear about SR the more you dislike them and their methods. However i feel their advertising spending gives them alot of power in the press, i bet we never hear anything about this in any mag, i never knew about them and Equipe till now
Got stuff I ordered from Si within 96 hours. (OK that did include the weekend!!!)
Haven,t had a chance to check wether he included free stickers or not.
Me thinks the likes of Si and Matt Savage can certainly teach certain multipage advertisers what the meaning of customer service is.

PS Cheers Si

I ordered some stuff from Si and asked if he could suppy an extra that was NOT on his list.
Got a reply the following day. OK he couldn't help me directly BUT he did point me in the right direction.
Thanks Si.
Somehow I dont think I would have got the same sort of response from SR!!
Keep up with the good service to your customers Si.

Feel for you mate.
Had a Transit nicked once. Never saw it again either.
Yep theft of Landies is probably organised crime. At say £2-20k per vehicle the police are not too interested, but hundreds if not thousands are nicked each year making this a multimillion pound organised crime per year.

Hi there, I have followed this thread with some interest for quite a while. Have also made my own enquiries about the X-brake.
Now will put my tuppence worth in.
I am putitng my money where my mouth is!!
Si you have received an order for an X brake and X jump online.
I have bought some stuff from SR before. Somehow I dont think I will buying from them again.
Si Can you bung some stickers in as well and see what you can do about my additional comments?
Regards
Leeds
PS Should I email SR and tell them why my money has gone to Si rather then to them?
