Yeah i have had the pulley off a few times so pretty confident it will come off again but mite try the screw idea to remove the seal 👍

Hi guys Does anyone know if you can replace the front crank oil seal without removing the timing case as i need to do it but just can't remember if you need to remove it or not 😟

Sorry its took so long as been trying a few more thermostats and i think i've just cracked it managed to get hold of a WAXSTAT one the other week and just got round to fitting and trying it and just been on a long motorway run today with heater on full blast the whole 60 mile round trip just to see what it does and the heater never missed a beat, the gauge still fluctuates when say coming off at a junction but only slightly and nothing like it was so i'm well chuffed 😁

I'm in the middle of ordering a load of thermostats and just wondered if a 300tdi thermostat would work as all i can see is they have a rubber seal

My last 2a i converted to a tdi had the round smiths heater and it was always toastie using the 88° tdi thermostate same rad setup

Yeah i gathered that, looking at different makes and not really bothered on price, just want get it sorted now

Ok so looks like its still a thermostat problem

My cooling fan switch lights up when the fan is switched on but when driving and the fan switched off the switch lights up so i'm assuming the fan is freewheeling then when you come to a stop you can see the switch getting dimmer as the fan slows down then once it stops the light on the switch goes out, so was thinking it could be overcooling

Right i've recently had the engine out to fit a LOF clutch assy so whilst it was out i replace the thermostat again this time for a Gates one, the others have been a mixture of britpart and allmakes ones but its still doing it and the gauge still reads the same, so i'm now thinking its my electric fan over cooling it ( free wheeling ) but i will remove it completely to test it but obviously keep it with me just incase then decide what to do next as i'm not sure if you can buy a fan that doesn't free wheel
