I used to have that arrangement before fitting Defender seats (arguably, they are late SIII County seats in Defender colours 😜).  No mods necessary.

So other than the fabric are the cloth seats made the same as the PVC seats as my Defender seats are cloth ones :)

  2. Hi guys

When i was restoring my 2a over 4 yrs ago i replaced the wornout front seats with Defender ones but referbished them before fitting using the Britpart seat kits and they was great for about a year of use but have slowly lost thier stifness so have decided to go back to new std front seats but have a cubby box fitted, can i still use my cubby box with the std seats :)

  3. Hi guys

Since fitting my roamerdrive just over a year ago my transfer box has leaked from the rear imput shaft seal and sump plate ( ally type ) where before the roamerdrive was fitted it didn't, i pressume with the transfer box having to use a thinner oil as specified by roamerdrive, can't think off top of my head what oil the roamerdrive uses but just wondered if anyone else on here uses ep 90 with a roamerdrive and has it caused any problems 🙂

  4. Right as i messed up ordering the springs from Jones springs ( thought i ordered but didn't ) i ended up buying some GME rear springs which i wanted in the first place from paddocks which have now arrived and hopfully weather permitting i will fit them over the weekend 🙂

Did you get a chance to run the truck over a weighbridge to check total and rear axle weights?

Although I'm pretty sure you will be under the 1/2 ton payload for an 88.

    New U bolts as well?

It will be worth the wait, very good quality springs

    Steve

No i haven't but will do once i've done the springs 👍

  6. Well i tried to order from Paddocks today but couldn't work out which was Britpart or GME springs as Paddocks have updated there website again, i did send them an email last night but not heard anything so i've ordered them from Jones springs but have an 8 week lead time which means i will be busy over Crimbo 😆

Genuine or pattern?  I suspect the latter.  Tyre shine sprays will help the next set resist perishing as they have UV blockers in the liquid.  Those sprays are good for most rubber and plastic parts.  Keep it away from wind screen wipers and seals on moving windows, though, as it’ll make terrible greasy smears if it rubs on the glass.

Cheer's i will see if i can cut them down and refit and give them a spray 👍

I'm thinking of running front parabolics while keeping the rear springs standard with extended shackles. I want to keep the rear springs standard for a few reasons, load carrying ability being one of them as well as parabolics being quite expensive to ship to the other side of the world (NZ), so shipping only two springs will keep the costs down considerably.  Does anyone have any experience of mixing paras and normal springs? I'm just wondering if there's any adverse handling effects that I haven't thought of.

    Cheers

I was thinking of going the same was but what i've noticed is with para's all round and carrying weight is if the back end say goes down an inch the front will lift up an inch so fitting multi leafs on the back and para's on the front it will probably do the same but not as much so i'm thinking of going back completly to multi leafs.

Here is how I first had it with the mil style spreader plate. Then how I fitted it with a slider afterwards. 3499AA62-6A15-4B17-9650-A950642AEF2B.thumb.png.8a21522573dc27da0f26c9ba1e7b79c8.png

Can you still get series sliders as the bolt hole patern is slightly different to a series or can i mod it to suit

You’d need to drill 2 holes for the nato hook. As the crossmember won’t have them. It will then fit. But you’ll need a spreader plate at the back. And really one on the front, as the crossmember can easily be deformed. Lots of different ways of achieving this.

Will you be towing? On my 88 I fitted a drop plate and then have a nato on one slider and a regular hitch on another. Also allows you to adjust the height.

Yes i have a 109 drop plate but i had forgoten about the drop plate being on so yeah that would work 👍

Yes I do, and NO it doesn't. You need an external adaptor plate which comes with stand-off legs (tubes) so the nuts for the NATO hitch can be accessed. Try 245599.

Nowadays, preferred use includes a securing point, or points, for safety chains.

    Regards.

Ok cheer's i will look into that 👍
