Work?
15 Mins... Takes longer to replace the bottom hoses with silicone ones.

You think you've got problems... mine don't work when everything's neatly assembled, but with everything 1/2 re assembled they do!

So, I've got the kit, a new clutch fork and both little clips... anything else I need before I start?

Any other parts one should get before starting?

That's certainly something we have in mind, but there is also the factor that the charges from small firms out here are way less that in a big city.
We shal see what the man has to suggest after he's done some phoning.

Worst case scenario could be that one of the bands inside is going
Just had the owner of a local indie garage give it a test drive and within 50 yards he diagnosed exactly this.
As it's not a job they can do he's doing some research to see if there's a good local autobox rebuilder.

FWIW the colour was good last Sept when we checked the level before going to France
So-
Drain
Drop gearbox sump and clean all the muck out
Fit new screen
Refit sump
Fill
Drive a few miles

Which should mean that the old oil in the torque converter is flushed out?
Niamh

It only started yesterday so I doubt it's the kickdown.
Oil level is fine, but it did look more brown than red on the dipstick.
And we've almost reached the moon

Lower rather than higher speeds (probably not in 4th at all), mind I was being restrained with the throttle after the first time.

We're having a good week for transmission woes!
Our road automatic 300TDi seems to be suffering from what I'd describe as a slipping clutch were it a manual in that when driving along the revs will suddenly increase and then a second later drop back to normal, it doesn't feel as though the box is hunting between gears so could it be anything other than the torque converter slipping?

Ordered a AP Driveline/Borg & Back kit as was mentioned in Le's article in the Tech archive.

Do NOT use shackles to join two ropes/straps together. If a strap/rope fail you have 1kg of metal shackle flying about.
BTDTGTTS, or rather a large dent in the rear bumper of my old Disco!
However I've not seen soft shackles with a SWL >3 tonne anywhere.

IIRC the unit covers everything, you just select the appropriate leads (LDxxx codes) so check what connectors your Disco has, Our D1 with ABS and airbags has an OBDII connector in the drivers footwell.

Rovacom came from Blackbox Solutions but has been superseded by Faultmate.
I understand that there is also a product called Nanocom, but I've no experience of that.

The ABS light will stay on until you're doing approx 5MPH forwards.
If the battery has run flat the the airbag light says on until the relevant fault code is cleared from its control unit, we have Rocacom Lite with the appropriate module that fixed this for us.

Was heading down to a pay'n'play day and noticed that the clutch was slipping a bit in 3rd to 5th and I had to be delicate with the loud pedal to keep the slipping in check.
Now ever since I bought it the bite point has been right at the top of the pedal travel so I'm guessing it's new clutch time?
Unless someone has any alternative ideas?
If it is any recommendations as to which clutch to fit?

Check your lock stops.

& with the engine running?
Niamh

Measure the voltage when running, a good alternator should mean you see 13 - 14V across the battery.

And got a reply last night

OK, I've resent the email.

Did you ever get him? I've been waiting for a reply to an email for a few days now.

Why are the bolts at the transfer box end of the front propshaft put in from the back so one can't remove them easily to replace with new bolts when changing propshafts?

Wiring query.

I dug this out from behind the lining on the RHS of the back of my 300TDi-
Anyone got any idea what the connector is or what the green/brown wire is? The previous owner has obviously crimped a butt connector to it for something that never got connected.
