  1. Good tip Do I keep the multimeter settings the same, earth the black and hold the red on the fuse? Where do you manage to get the red into a bladed fuse? Thanks
  2. I checked all fuses and all appear intact. Unfortunately the wires aren't labelled into the fuse box and no diagram sticker to go with it. Also its ex radio Military so a lot of extra non standard wiring. Do the readings I supplied suggest no power at the switch?
  3. Thanks for the replies. So if I connect a temp live to the purple green going into the box this should work the heater, even though this wire was the only one showing a reading of any sort? If this is the case then can I run a lead direct off the battery to the green purple going into the box? Ps why has this wire got a reading but not powering it? Thanks
  4. How you saw those earths I do not know, all appear intact. I also wired a separate earth with no joy.
  5. Ps all those readings are gobbledygook to me🤷🏻‍♂️
  6. Slow speed and fast speed at switch read 0.05 3pin connectir at box reads green and purple lead from loom going into heater box reads 0.20 green and slate from loom into box reads 0 green and yellow reads 0
  7. I wired I'm a temp earth, still no joy. I put the Red lead from a multimeter on the switch with ignition on and the black to the vehicle body earth, no reading at all. Not convinced I've used the multimeter correctly thigh. Black was in common and the red in 10a and dial switched to 10a
  8. On closer inspection, I may need to move the wings also as the rot goes a little bit further 😳 How hard is wing removal 🤔
  9. I’ll do both when I get home tonight and I’ll post the photos up.
  10. Hmmm that doesn’t appear or be there on mine in fact I can’t find any earths like that 🤔
  11. Not done any testing Red 90, I have a nice multimeter but don’t really know how to use it in this situation. I’m happy for anyone to explain it to me (like a 5 year old). Hw do I test if I have power at the switch with a multimeter? Dont really want to farm the work out, I’m tight and wouldnt mind the pleasure of finding the problem. I understand what you mean re the earth, I could use an earth test cable temporarily so that’s a great idea 👍🏻
  12. Despite an extensive look, I can’t find that bank of earth terminals 🤔 Is there a way I can just completely retire the blower, then I’ll know what I’m working with. Oh, I did find some rust though🙄
  13. Any ideas where the ground is grounded too,Is it behind the dash or elsewhere?
  14. Thanks for your offer I might take you up on that. One things puzzling me though, I have nothing at all, no fast or slow speed. If the resistor only deals with the slow speed and I have no fast speed, this would appear to be another problem apart from the resistor. Or do I have that wrong🤔
  15. I know The wire colours and they all look intact. Where do I find a resistor to buy?
  16. Managed to get the window panel hinges forward. I released a few forward roof bolts, lifted the roof then pushed the window forward. This should help the garage out and hopefully save me lots of money!
  17. That’s really helpful so thanks for that. My classic garage will Be doing the welding, I’m just getting it ready to save a few quid. How easy 🙄 was the window panel to separate? Any photos of you getting the window panel off?
  18. I have a multimeter (more for tuning my beetle) but don’t know how to use it. Can you tell please me where to poke the multimeter so I can test the unit is getting power. Cheers
  19. Is the three pin connector inside or outside th3 housing?
  20. Could the resistor have packed up, is that common?
  21. Already checked behind the cluster, all seems intact.
  22. I have no speeds at all so could this still be the resistor?
  23. Please help before I pour petrol over my beautiful Defender. Very irritating and wasted day today. My heater used to work perfectly, then for no apparent reason just stopped working??.. i checked all fuses as nowhere seems to list which fuse is for my heater blower.......mine is an ex military 90 on a 1992 plate. None of the fuses appear blown, all of 5he wiring appears intact, I have fitted a brand new switch lever, the blower turns freely by hand. The switch has no effect at all on the fan. Although I have a multimeter and despite several attempts to find out how to use it, I can’t. Can anyone tell me where the switch wires lead to so I can chance the line Does anyone have any idea why this would suddenly pack up, what am I missing? Thanks
  24. Unfortunately I can’t find any instructables anywhere😡
