  1. I spend most of the year in Africa, so for me there is no right or wrong side haha! I think we are pretty unique in the way we us Brits can swap sides pretty easily- something most of my colleagues from the Americas cannot understand! Me proving you can fit anything into a Land Cruiser 76:
  2. Your truck looks sweet! I like stainless theme! I have the same steering wheel but in black- I love it!
  3. UPDATE: okay, so I've just ordered the Mud UK console, 2x 13cm Pioneer speakers and 2x tweeters, & a JVC double din head unit for the front. I'll start with that and then add the subwoofer and rear speakers as I go along.
  4. Mate. I wish i could go that fast i keep her at a steady 95kmh. Any faster and I can't hear myself think! And this is AFTER sound deadening it.
  5. @yalan I have just restored a 200tdi that was completely still for 3 years. It had half a tank in and once it was running, I used it all up fine with no issues. I did change the fuel filter beforehand. I would also suggest to go and give it a good, aggressive drive and hold the gears a bit longer to get everything hot and give the fuel system a good clean through.
  6. @L19MUD tablet style is great..... but £800!?? Steep. Especially for a car so easy to enter!
  7. @L19MUD I love youridiculous approach haha! The fabrication behind the cubby is nice, however I'm currently in the process of cutting mine out, so will probably need to go under the cubby box for amp/sub/whatever i go for. I am also looking at a car play double din- I think if i didn't buy one, i'd be forever wishing i did. The Pioneer or the JVC seem best priced and can get for 250ish if you look hard 👀. For that price, these look great. I do want the separate tweeters that i can mount higher in the dash. I'm still yet to buy anything, but i was recommended these - a little more money but meant to be good. These pioneer component speakers are only £33 and get great reviews. Both are 13cm however.
  8. I like spinny vinyl too! But not in the car 😄 I was referring to CDs and therefore not needing any kind of cd player etc etc. Tis a fair point!
  9. Western, I'm afraid I am not a fan of the pop out player, despite being a good option- a mechless design is definitely more applicable. I am of course of the Spotify generation and have little need for the spinning plastic disks! 🤣 Speakers look sound though, I prefer the less loud, plain looking ones like these.
  10. Thanks so much for your thorough response! Agreed completely, I'll be putting them in factory position- not the doors, for the same reasons you suggest and i like the clean look of the series doors which I have on mine. I like the ideas of tweeters on the dash and the one of the previous owner morons has destroyed the vinyl on both sides anyway with unnecessary screwing. I am still unsure whether to go for a double din or single. The issue is spending easily gets out of hand with these units and can be quite the target for tea leaves. I have seen these and look good. I have no space behind my cubby as I have a Disco 1 LT77 rather than the Defender one, so I cannot mount one on the back. Perhaps underneath is the only way to go. Some great advice, will think it over and commit to some purchasing this week! Cheers
  11. Hi all, Coming to the end (or the start, however you look at Landy maintenance! 🤯) of my 90 rebuild. It is a 1989 model with no current speaker or head unit setup. I’m ready to put in a centre console (Mud UK probably) and sound system and looking for some advice, primarily on component speakers. Looking for something reasonably priced- so let’s not suggest the Focal ES100K! What have people done to upgrade their standard setup, or what have people in a similar position to me, starting fresh Many thanks Jake
  12. This looks great! Good work and giving me ideas for my own! You should finish the interior off with a tubular bulkhead removal bar to let it all flow.
  13. Thanks, unfortunately I don’t know the VlN as it was an eBay job! But that Britcar link seems to have the tabs in the right places. I’ll order them and give em a go! Cheers Jake
  14. Hi all, Just fitted some Disco 4 seats into my Defender (which look amazing btw!). There is a part missing in the outsides of both seats (maybe an arm rest??) and I want to cover up the hole. Any idea of what goes here or a part number to cover it up with a plastic cowling? Cheers Jake
  15. Hey Stephen, looks like my large centre is 85mm too. Where did you buy it from as I now want one exactly the same?! Cheers Jake
  16. That looks great! I will measure tomorrow, potentially something like that could fit!
  17. Thanks western, will have a look at that. Bowie69, yes I suppose I could. Would have to be an enamel badge I reckon otherwise would look a bit poor. Open to suggestions- does anyone have a badge/sticker maker?!
  18. Hi all, im looking for a 28mm LR badge to go on the centre of my Mountney steering boss. Any ideas? Not having much look searching online. Cheers Jake
  19. Madness!! Especially when after a bit of searching I can get 2 light surrounds brand new for 25 quid. As I am finding out, anything associated with and marketed for a Defender costs $$$$
  20. Neil, I don’t need them, but think they finish off the front quite nicely. I also have a lot more screw holes in from various previous owners that have don’t all sorts, I can fill these holes but would be easier to blank them off with that plate. I will try without and see what I can get away with but was worth asking in here. I’ll try and cut some out anyway as a trial Cheers Jake
  21. Thanks all. I’m thinking about maybe trying it with the existing stock plastic surround, taking a dremmel to the Iip and seeing if it fits. I’m concerned it may be too thick, that is the issue. Good spot with the 4 corner holes. Agreed would be better to use the light recesses and the bezel surrounds. Will have a play and post some pics! Jake
  22. Hi all, New to the forum with a 1989 90 200tdi that is getting all my attention during the coronavirus lockdown. Life could be worse. I want to fit a stage one series, twisted style, front to the the old girl. The kits that Twisted and Supertweaks do cost a lot of money for essential series light surrounds and a metal plate to cover the front of the light panel. The surround I can source but I’m struggling with the plate. I’m thinking about getting some replicas pressed but wondered if anyone knew how there are fixed to the landy, or had any knowledge of them at all? Links for reference and images below. https://www.twistedautomotive.com/store/product/stage-one-grille-set-workshop-fit https://www.supertweaks.com/land-rover/land-rover-defender/land-rover-defender-exterior-accessories/land-rover-defender-classic-stage-one-light-surrounds-pair Cheers Jake
