  1. Ive been let down, and the 6hp xp motor, 150" of 11mm plasma and fairlead that was supost to be here thursday at the latest has not left the people that I bought it off yet. Dont pannic, I will be at the challenge if its the last thing I do. Just might have to manage with a very short winch rope and pinch a motor off another winch. But is there anyone that live's close to someone that stock's any of this and will be coming to the challenge? If so Would they be prepared to pick the stuff up if I pay by credit card and bring it for us? If you can help out please let me know.

  4. How we looking then! Everybody ready? We are almost there, Just a few last finnishing off jobs to do and waiting for a parcel with a new plasma and xp motor for my front 8274! Had a few late one's this week but he's back on his wheels and rare'n to go.

Any one know if there is likely to be a burger/ catering van there? Or am I gona av to bring stuff to cook breakfast? Please tell me there is, Its so much easier to buy a bacon sandwich then cart all that cooking stuff around!

  5. Are all motor's, driver's/biatch's ready for the onslaught :o:lol: awdc? who are they :lol: bring them on ;)

Well diffs arrived back from ashcroft today and I have just driven home in the landrover. Managed to get both diffs in and the rear winch swapped for an 8274 that I have just bought with help from Mark and a couple of other mate's. Still got a fair list of stuff to do, fingers crossed!

BTW, anyone with 35" tyre's on standard gearing and thinking of changing for lower ratio ring and pinion's, do it now, Its so much better, Back to how it used to be on the 235/85's if not better. Worth every penny.

  6. LR4x4 1 Adrian Turner Richard Weatherly Land Rover 90

LR4x4 2 Paul Bass Nev Hudd Land Rover 90

LR4x4 3 Richard Wheeler Dave Mason Land Rover 90

LR4x4 4 Simon Madgwick Jeremy Beresford Land Rover 90

LR4x4 5 Daniel Furniss Lee Bond Mercedes G-Wagen

LR4x4 6 Steve Gittins Mark Morgan Land Rover 90

Can someone help out here, ,Ive not been on this forum long and struggle to put user name's to name's on the team! Adrian I know and Pigster is Richard (I think) I know Steve Gittins coz thats me and Mark Morgan coz he's the dodgy looking one that keeps getting out and walking coz he don't trust my driving! Would Dirty Diesel be David furniss (just a guess due to the Gwagen) And maybe Richard Wheeler would be Top 90. That could be totally wrong. So if any one can help me work out who's who so im not quite so lost in this thread it would be great.

And also with the other teams members that are active on LR4x4.com. I know Ciderman (by his rosey cheeks  ) and Shaun Harris, Bit lost otherwise tho!

    Cheers.

    Steve.

  7. Expect more of what you got at Walters Arena on a site 20x smaller but 10x more agressive!!

    Oh and without a map...

Thats O.K. I haven't got a clue what you would do with a map, I just follow everyone else! :D

And I dont mind more agressive as long as its just the terrain and not the other teams!

  8. well I hope your right, Spoke to them today and the nice lady on the phone said "they will be first job tomorrow" Taken a bit longer than first thought. Cant see it will take em too long, They are fitting 4.11:1 Crownwheel and pinions and maybe a new seal to one of the lockers! If they are with me Wednesday were in business, If its any later we may be busy Saturday before we can leave!

  9. Im not quite sure what to expect yet but im looking forward to it. Looks like its going to be a good event. Just hope we dont hold the team back coz its all still a bit new too us! Im pretty good at the burger van tho, Do we get extra pionts for that?

    Steve.

  10. Myself/Pigster

    Top90/Divster

    Dirtydiesel/Lee

Magic/chris? i think thats the wrong name

    Paul B/Nev

    orgasmic farmer/Steve

Well obviously I know who Mark is and Ive met Adrian, Would I know any of the rest of the team from the Scorpion event? Sorry, Im rubbish with name's and face's but I spect I'll remember your landrover!

  11. So whats the score with this "Team event"? Do we work individualy and have the score's added at the end? Work as pair's and add up at the end? Being new to the game im not real sure how team events work!

Whats the site like? Woodland? Boggy? Water? Rocky? Steep?

Think thats enough questions for one post! Im getting right excited, cant wait now!

If I get my Mrs to come and cook for all the other teams on Saturday night that should put them out of the running! LOL

  12. A mate of mine wants to fit the same rear axle setup as I have (disovery disc axle with ARB locker and 24spline shafts) but is having trouble finding a good disc brake axle at the moment. Being impatient he wants to fit the locker now and then swap it when he finds an axle. The thing we are not sure of is will the 24spline half shafts go in the drum brake (Freg 90) rear axle. This will only be a short term thing untill he finds an axle. There is a shoulder on the newer shafts for the seal to run on but that wont be a problem. Only thing I can see being a problem is the length of the shafts, bolt pattern on the drive flange (which im sure is the same) and the diameter if there is anything in the drum axle thats too small for the 24spline shafts. Anyone know if its possible? or has anyone got 24spline internals running in a drum brake axle? Any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  13. Got the front 8274-50 fitted yesturday and had to use it a couple of time's last night. Very impressed and its great having a winch that will keep up when you find a bit of grip rather then having to stop and allow the winch to catch up. Just sussing out Fab'n up a winch tray to weld into rear cross member for the other when it arrive's next week so I can drop it down below floor level. That way it shouldn't sit any higher than the low line one I have now and my waffle's/ground anchor etc can stay where they are! Quite like the look of something like the scorpion racing and devon 4x4 one's. Think I will be making something similar to those.

  14. Well who'd av thunk it, Ive gone and bought another 8274 today so it now looks like i'll be replacing my rear winch with one too! This one has been servied top to bottom and has a brand new 4.6hp motor. So what you reckon to do, The one with new 6hp motor on the front and this one with the 4.6hp on the rear?

The Mrs is gona go nuts as I bought some ashcroft halfshaft today as well coz im fed up with breaking em!

  15. Thanks for ya offers of help guys, I spect I can prolly manage to get it apart and back together but if I do have any trouble one of you can expect a call!

As for the plasma, ive seen and heard of it breaking quite a lot and I really dont fancy it breaking when im half way up a steep pull trying to get a tricky punch! Thats the only reason I havn't order'd it yet.

  16. Woooooo Hooooooooo! Looks like I gota 8274! First thing to do is order a 6Hp motor then mod the winch bumper to get it fitted! More than I really wanted to pay for a second hand one but they seem to fetch crazy money so there's nowt much I can do about that! Quite good timing really as I finnished moving the radiator and intercooler back today so I can mount it without loosing any aproach angle.

What are the week points? How does the brake last when using it for a lot of lowering? (at the moment I have a warn 9000 front and 8000 rear and never manage a day out without cooking the brake in one of them!) And how long will plasma last if im lazy about cleaning it after use?
