you may find the ECU will not run the motor in a standalone mode - its going to want to talk to the gearbox ECU, the Alarm ECU and the Ashtray control module all hooked together, might be a enquiry worth making ?
Yep. Spot on. The audi will be running a bus network and without the right digital signals from other ECU's then you'll have problems. The imobiliser signal will be needed before you get anywhere. After that if it doesn't receive comunication from ABS, ETC, Stability control, etc etc and even things like Radio, door control, electric seat's and various other rubish will cause fault code's to appear which will cause many problem's. It is possible to get round this tho. There are firms that will build aftermarket ECU's to suit most applications like this that specialise mainly in management systems for motorsport or you could look into someone re-programing the audi ECU but that might be a bit of a task!

Adrian, How have you triangulated yours back to the chassis? Its easy enough to do at the front but back near the bulk head the pedal box/footwells are in the way!

Ive seen what Si is doing and im very, very interested. As for spring rate's I have no clue. Something suitable for a trayback 90 with winch's, cage, ground anchor etc etc. Were also looking to do the AWDC series next year..........
-
If your coming to slindon on sunday you can see mine up close
I've already got pic's of your's....... scary eh!!!!! Pinch'd em off the tray back thread you did and as for coming to slindon I'd love too but ive got a lot of grinding and welding to do The pile of steel is slowly getting smaller and the landrover is getting stronger all the time!
-
As the title say's really. About to start making mine. Pretty sure im decided on what I want but thought I'd see if anyone had any pic's of their's just incase there is some options I havn't thought of!

A decent auto sparky can remove/bypass/disable the immobiliser for a few quid. Or, if you're bothered about it, get a decent after-market one fitted in it's place - if you get an approved (Thatcham Cat x) one your insurance may drop too.
A few years ago yes, But these days with most system's running on CAN bus networks etc the ECU will require a digital signal before it will run. Some systems can be reprogramed to run without but not all and you can be sure that the reprograming wont be cheap!

Yep, thanks for changing the date, Wasn't an issue for me but I think it was for my co driver!
-
See you there then, Will be the first outing of the new tray back!
-
Yep, I wana come. Not sure bout new date as I dont think my winch bitch can make that one, I'll have to ask him but defo gona try and get there!

would be good to see you Bristol boys there, what happend to mk 3 and 4 then?
Well Mk 3 was one lot of mod's which were planned before next challenge Mainly new front end (coz its proper knackerd after a few brush's with tree's) front wing protection and roll cage mod's, Mk4 was after the next challenge, Mainly a tray back and Mk 5 was some time in the future, ashcroft CV,s, but ive decided to do it all before Exeter, plus a whole heap of repairs from abuse over the last few week's! Mark gets a bit stressed with me coz I always start doing something quite major the week before the event and to date we have always managed to get there. This time is gona be a real test of his nerves coz There's loads too do. So mark 3&4 havn't gone anywhere just been added to Mk5!
-
Yep, we'll be there, but ive decided to skip MK3 and MK4 and going straight for MK5 so you better find ya way over the hill Pikey coz we got a lot to do. On top of that we gotta straighten out the damage from Mine and Kris's lea surely drive through the wood on sunday, Damn them tree's are hard!!!!
-
Ive been running them low, Was running them very low but keep coming off rim's so I dont go lower than 15psi now. But even when I was using them lower they still seem'd rubbish on rock!
-
Mine are OK on the road (the landrover drives that bad you cant tell) Brilliant in Mud, grass etc etc but I find them poor on rock and stone. Ive seen me struggling to drive up a rock waterfall and failing then an almost identical prep'd landrover drove straight up without spinning a wheel on simex. Had similar experience since on pretty much every big rock step Ive come across!

No's shouldn't be a problem, The last event was excellent I'll defo be there if they are along similar line's (except for the Date pikey cant make)
As for Cardiff if its the site I think Jase is on about it would be excellent for a challenge event.
We are looking to do the CSW event near Exeter on the 26th I think, Is that the one your all doing?
-
They all do. Its never a problem. Ive seen quite a lot of them like it including mine. There was a whole thread on Difflock.com about it.

Whats HBRO?

As for CV's I reckon Its got to be ashcrofts in the near future but ive spent a fortune just recently so It'll av to wait, and I'll have to avoid full lock on my nose till then. Maybe if im good Santa will come up with something!!!
-
Yep, January is good, may need an excuse to clear the haze left from christmas and new year!
-
Oooo, you have got CV's too! I only have shafts. Best investment I ever made. after breaking 9 halfshafts in a couple of months I decided it was time. Rears wern't so bad but fronts really bugged me when I had to change them in the middle of knowhere. I actually broke a CV within 30mins of unloading and having a play in the wood on the sunday after the challenge! Glad that didn't happen in that last punch! They have one more chance with std CV's then im on the phone to ashcroft!

Where in Wale's? Looks like Clyro court forestry, but forestry has a habit of looking the same!
-
Good picture's, Have no idea where any of them are tho! The first one looks like a fun little drop, wouldn't mind a go at that.
-
I know the one. Was at the bottom end of acess track just before it turned back on itself. The very last punch we did.
-
Which punch is that that your on Treebloke?
