  1. I think the verticality of the B hoop is to ensure it is quite close to the driver's head as this is the one thing it really needs to protect. IIRC there is something in the book of lies requiring it to be a certain maximum distance from the driver's head.

Im sure there is a minimum / maximum angle at wich the rear stays meet the chassis, and the top of the main hoop, I think a MSA scrutaneer "years ago" told me the main hoop can be 10 degrease off vertical, bit only leaning backwards only!

  2. :( im not on the list and sent in my form ages ago. ah well, sent it again (with some pennies this time) so hopefully that will reach you!!!!

    Pete

  4. First question is how's the lad that ended up totally wet through when he rolled in the water ??

Good do we enjoyed it although we didn't have a clue where we were or where we were going, but's thats normal for us two,

Loads of Marshalls around, and they didn't interfere which was good, it's hard enough in the dark anyway.

We couuldn't stay for the scores because I turned my trailer around ready to load and ended blocking the exit, so when the lad was taken to hospital had to shift out of the way smartish, which meant going up the long lane, and once we got the Nissan moving up the frozen hill we kept it going.

Anyway first Challenge with rhe MOR and thorougly enjoyed it, everbody seemed friendly,so thanks to all involved.

Where and when will the scores be posted.??

    Chris:)

Adam "hyperthermia! burman is ok :D He managed to roll his bro's truck drivers side down into 3ft of frozen water , Sunday night he was hogging the family sofa infront of the fire . Scores are posted on MOC web, and there on facebook "if u do it" along with loads of pics.

Glad u had a good time, it was fun watching :D The marchells are there to "officually " stop cheeting and for safty, but "unoficially" to watch the fun and take pics. I think everyone had a good time. Adam wanted to know when the next one was  which says sommet really ;)

    Sorry u missed a corker :D

Thanks for the wake up text,

  9. I've read the exact wording and it's still not a problem. I think your definition of a circuit is not correct.

From a dictionary for an Electrical circuit

The complete path of an electric current, including the generating apparatus, intervening resistors, or capacitors.

A + cable to the high power side of the solenoid does not make a circuit, a circuit is made only when there is a return path through the motor to the earth of the battery.

The lower current side of the solenoid does have to go through the main isolator.

As for the roll cage I would look at the AWDC regs not the MSA page.

"From January 2011 all vehicles competing in All Wheel Drive Club challenge events will be required to have a minimum of a rear roll hoop with backstays and an X reinforcement within the hoop."

"all roll bars and roll cages should be built to MSA specifications ..."

Which is different to the MSA spec and says "should" not "must".

Also part a (iv) of AWDC regs. "All space frame vehicles must have a full cage as part of their overall construction".

(which is in the MSA regs as well)

The MSA (2010) say that the roll cage MUST be welded and integral to the design for space frames.

So any thing not roll cage is part of the space frame and actually must be attached to the roll cage.

    So again I don't see a problem.

But note I'm not an MSA scruntineer.

The MSA are the awdc insurers, so the AWDC have to comply with the MSA Regs just like every other MSA Affiliated club.

  10. to save reading the 36 page link

does anyone know the exact (changes) that will be in place next year?

All winching operations to be marchelled

    MSA Speck cages

Rated winches and equilalent winch / recovery equipment

Mesh and goggles if mo screen, or open rear cab.

Traybacks / challenge wings welded to cage a no no.

Spill kits on sections & in trucks.

and a few other little changes.

Straight from mr Ian Davis "MSA Cross country committie" bloke.
