  1. The never put welded arms on your truck maybe going a little far, do you not think? We could run of a quick list of tried and tested arms? ( PS i run stock arms) Is it back to you get what you pay for, Well done on the trading standards, I think these types of traders need to be bumped of the market place or stick to what they are good at.
  2. cool. i have the terrafirma mounts to go with it so should be ok, bit like the Gwyn lewis mounts I have plus 2 bump stops so will see what its like on compression,
  3. this is the rear only as happy with the front setup
  4. My rear +2 shocks have seen better days so need to replace. I am also running -2 drop brackets. Ive bought the terrafirma +5 shock mounts the relocation ones. ( im running +2 Oldman emu springs - dislocation cones etc) My question is. ive read a bit about double carbon props etc. I was going to try it out and limit the centre axle drop if required but thought i would ask on here. also how are people rating the terrafirm shocks should mention its a 90 truck cab , 35 simexs. will be dippping in and out of challenges as done the last 2 years of the howling.
  5. Do those polo shirts come with Marshall on the back if requested :-)
  6. what engine is it? Lot of people referring to head gasket but you would certainly be getting pressure in the header tank ( alot more than normal) if its a 300 or 200 with usual injector pump could be down to an injector or timing as they can move etc. . I would check timing first,
  7. i was under the impression they made the 3 middle lug pattern for the rocks and sand type terrain where you might not want the dig of the thinner tyres. my simex still nearly measure 35 and they are fairly worn
  8. 300TDI? if so, head warp , book it in for a skim . not a bad to do either
  9. after i got fedup with cutting holes in that tough plastic i bought the raptor engineering dash, they are wider and he will custom cut all the holes out ready. made light work of it and guaranteed for life can get it in a load of i bought the black one to go with dash http://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/gallery
  10. Neil , I thought of a few more plus points, All those people building trucks this year ready for next year will be happy the format is similar. be good to se how it pans out, Im planning a year out so i can move house and replace a few bits on the old girl. do a couple of events and a few more trips abroad. Will be along to the local ones to have a watch,
  11. I wasn`t going to comment either just drop out this year but as we are having a good discussion i thought i would. To start with , i enjoyed the HW this year, thought slindon was the best round as the section were really well put out and enjoyed the night sections which brought it together to be a good team spirt event, yeah coming 3rd in class 3 was also good news. Will4x4, I agree we did alright this year but I would need to put the same money again into the truck to make it last and carry out the section that will be/have been setup for a 44+ boggers. As for the 2.5k build, great if you have the contacts/ discounts, but my winch, winch bumper, winch rope , tyres and wheels cost that much. but i would need to put that money again into the front winch to get it up to spec to cope with the change and the sections ( which is fine). Yeah the class system works but i dont think there is enough detail . I remmeber the scropion raciing sponsored events when it all started and the regs seemed clearer then, as centre winches and fiddle brakes wouldnt have been allowed in class 3. Also a lot of other events have more detail in their regs, which makes it clear on what you can and cant have, and main thing is you can decide if your enter or not ... I was hoping for a class tyre size regulation to be brought in, as with the current regs i could go away and build a 50 inch bogger on a set of portals/ spidertrack axles Mr sealey winch in the middle etc etc after a visit to the bank and if i had no failures and driving was any good or up to scratch walk over all the other class 3 / maybe 2 and 1 competitors. I do think your see more of that next year which puts me out as i feel the sections just get more damaging, dangerous and as we found when we tackled the night stage in the woods Last at slindon, its chewed up completely. we still got an alright time mind you . lastly i suppose i should add is that great the AWDC are trying to move the sport in the right direction be great to watch it on SKY, but for me it means I will have to move onto other things as it is like me turning up in my formula first car and everyone else is in formula 1 version. it seems to me that the AWDC challenges have moved on past my budget and class 3 is what used to be the class 1. Neil. will let you know what dates i can marshal if you need bodies sigining off :-) still happy and smiling.
  12. Yeah interested. Questions. Presume a comp safari truck would be use less unless altertered a lot ? What will be the speed limit? Whats the class setup? Will winches be required? from my questions im just trying to gauge if its a 50mph between sections and no challenge part to it?
  13. new stat in , it goes to 80 degress if i leave idling but i have fitted an electric fan and dumped the viscus
  14. My 12v heater arrived the other day same as the pic listed. I plan on stripping down the heater box and fitting either inside the box or the tunnel, I plan to fit a blower pump also and have them on a variable gain switch and also an isolator so i can just have the blower going in the summer, will post result when i do the work probably before Christmas. before i left work the other night truck was frozen solid, i let it for an hour ( electric fan not running) it was still not up to temp but the heater had defrosted it just about. my P38 would have been 26 degrees by then :-)
  15. yeah there 2 day one in march looks good
  16. yeah i pay probably around 250 quid a year in msa licenses and club membership etc. doesn't mention insurance on there site i suppose i was just surpised as if they need some cash for the admin type stuff thought that get donation /charty drives due to the nature of the work. as for insurance, is it just in case yo get sued rather than truck insurance for a pulled off bumper etc?
  17. dont mean to sound tight but i got asked to join and couldnt believe i had to pay, I was under the impression I was joining to help out where i can, etc, I thought as i will get called and go out in the middle of the night and expect no payment i thought i wouldnt have to pay to join. thought maybe a donation
  18. yeah 600 miles for us thou, thats a challenge on its own :-)
  19. i must admit i forget what forum im on half the time :-) i agree on PWM , i plan to do that on mine very soon, waiting for weather to cheer up lol :-)
  20. did you read that bit on page 1 of this thread think you might have missed the bilge in stall pics :-)
  21. I would be careful on the amount of petrol in, I had to put a fan heater on my veg tank once to get it to thin up hair dryer on the pipes too
