  1. must admit not my colour , cuppa tea for that money and no bids might suggest the feeling is similar in the landy world
  2. i did the engine change and I cant write my own letter being im I quaified as a mechanic many many years ago. It has to be an independant. I have plenty of pictures and its a typical looks like its out the factory Ive since found I can get an AA or RAC check so will go that route if I cant find a local garage thanks for advice
  3. Hi all, wonder if there is a garage around that can help me out I converted my V8 to a 300tdi about a year ago and Ive done about 6,000 miles the howling wolf challenge series last year etc To cut a long story short I never recalled the return of my V5 from DVLA for the engine change. called them and received it back but with a letter stating I needed a letter from a garage or independant source sayng the engine was either fitted by garage or checked by the garage. Anyone out there wish to earn some beer tokens to knock me up a letter . inspect it etc. drop me a pm if you can help i can travel for checking etc. thanks in advance for any help im located Basingtoke
  4. i wouldnt have oiled inside the motor wont that cause all sorts of insulation etc etc, i had oil pour in a motor and it never worked again. but sounds like your power is being snapped somewhere
  5. Punch cards are easy to check we used to have all our results by end of the day if you out line wrong punch in wrong box or double punch will not be counted you end up with perfect cards at the end of the day, cyber keys seemed to work also last year but expensive I suppose
  6. they are good, always work and fairly maintenance free. if i got one with the truck i would keep also. Sounds like you need an 8274 to go with that bumper :-)
  7. how it go then . pics video etc?
  8. anyone know the engine number location on a 300tdi
  9. that flow rate is pants, if you think we are looking at a 33cc pump and that is2.1 sure someone will answer whos can give a better reason
  10. We came 3rd in class 3 last year and yeah the single Mott is ok and does alright , it's not good enough in my opinion for some sections on a 90, a lot of trucks running 24v single winch butmount it in the middle so they can winch back or forward etc, we don't run free spool and don't tend to snag up too often but depends on the section , Only thing I'd say if maybe the zap in power spooling out over free spool , the thing with powering out when it get stuck and pulls back in thats usually frees it up as it's pulled back out , i suppose pros and cons to both but I'd say line manage plays a small part we find putting it on scruffy works, As for saving time you talking to a team that stops for lunch lol
  11. next question, these red winches , reading reviews they sounds good. anyone using can do a compare against other winhes out there http://www.red-winches.com/warrior.html the high gear sounds great but small drum
  12. yeah agreed electric motors are out for this.
  13. some more questions. what output does the saley/hydraulic winches need, i noticed a 33cc pump can produce 220Bar ? anyone running eletric hydro pumps?
  14. Think the words , challenge, dont attempt to drive anything you deem unsafe or too challenging for you or you truck come into it abit and isn`t it good practice to check depths before diving in. I found with the howling wolf no water was used at all for some events due to complaints. then it wen the other way as people complained there was no water sections, Keep up the good work challenger, I think the old "you can`t keep everyone happy springs to mind
  15. Cheers Zim, thanks for the info mate, John give me his number too so can call him. nice to see the setup. Like the air rams for high low etc.
  16. Decided to go Hydraulic later this year and been reading about as not had much experience using hydraulic. Im at a cross roads with winches. I spend a bunch of money and buy twin housing etc or go Hydraulic. So decided its hydraulic. so got some questions some silly but need to ask Winch - Saley Be great if some users of Hydraulic winches (saley) respond please if possible I don`t mind spending the right money to have a reliable , working setup. Whats the best pump to use Belt or chain driven? ( wont go PTO) (300tdi defender) What size tank do I need and where is the best location? Will it need a cooler Do i need to bleed the system How often do you replace the oil service the winch Presume tank is water proof etc How many connection go to the tank , pump and motor. is there a preferred pipe type to purchase makes etc What control options are about in the form of remotes etc Do people leave there chain in place all the time as seems most have a dog clutch What about over rev on the pump can this be controlled. What sort of range does it work from, IE engine running at 1000rpm will the engine revs need to be increased to 2000 rpm for the winch to preform etc. or will pulling power increase as it goes through a rev range. Has anyone got a good setup they have pics etc, pipe lengths , tank sizes. anything to watch out for , misuse , damage that can be occurred if not warned etc. think thats about it for now. thanks alot for responses as said not had experience in hydraulic before on my own offroader. ps 8274 with giggle pin bits for sale soon :-)
  17. single motor 8274 in my eyes doesn't cut it in comps. I ran a single xp last year (howling wolf) and although it did most things i was double lining a lot and was left wanting. not massively impressed with 8274s now with any combination of twin housing /24volt etc. so going hydraulic
  18. looks like a good line up looking forward to marshaling etc :-)
  19. Very Sad but i always try to learn form it , anyone know anymore detail Type of truck cage? seatbelts? setup etc
