  1. Jeff, I had the same problem with the passenger door and the rear door on my ex's 300tdi disco, and the door would only open with the key inserted and turned to unlock it, she got annoyed-I changed that damn spring in the passenger front door(lost blood and skin etc.) and left the rear door spring alone-as apparently she had no problem with the rear door doing that!!, It was the fact that she used to carry passengers that it annoyed her-it would've been easier to get rid of it than to keep fixing the bloody thing-one thing after another-luckily a mate of mine downloaded a complete disco manual-same as what I sent you funnily enough and that helped me sort the front door

  2. J2J, Phots would be great thank you, I have worklights on the rear of my 90 with a single LED bulb in them to replace the existing h-whatever size bulb was in them and they just about light up the area when I'm using them as reverse lights, and I also use them as tent type lights as I have a drive away awning I use for camping with my 90 too, So to get more light from a similar unit would be very beneficial all round, Thankyou for showing me what you've done for the lights on your rover.

  3. I've used my local to me truck repair place in Frome,Somerset-Reynolds I think it's called and they do all of the hydraulic crimping and good steel braided hoses etc. for a good price, My gearbox to oil cooler pipes on my stumpy R380 was about 60.00 all up and a patch pipe with connectors for the old and the new pipework for my milemarker when i cut into it by mistake-about 12 inches long was 12.00 too

  4. If you have a look in the tech archives you'll find a comprehensive guide to doing what you need to do to your land rover, If you're going to muck about with your Injectors it may be a good call to get them and your FIP serviced as this will give a new lease of life to your fuel injection system-if you can afford to do so with a reputable diesel service engineer, I used diesel bobs the last time i had an issue with my FIP and it took 3 days to get delivered sorted out and returned to me after a spring seized up inside the FIP and took 4 teeth of the cambelt and bent all but one of my pushrods

  5. Ed, all military 90's and the majority of the 110's of the time my ex brother in laws 90 was in service were NAD's, there were some 110's that were V8's-but were few and far between things like the rapier vehicles(130's) and a few others had V8's in them

  6. I've been looking into putting a temperature gauge into the R380 too, I came up with two solutions to the problem of where to mount it, I was going to place one in the the out bound oil cooler pipes to my 13 row mocal type oil cooler(Situated beside my full fronted intercooler) and the other was to place it in the actual drain plug of the R380 itself-that way you'll be getting a direct temperature, however I'd need to tap a thread in the drain plug and there is the question of the magnet in the cap too and how to get around that.

  7. 2.5td 19j with standard lt77 and lt230 boxes both standard, hit 60 and it absolutely screams it's nuts off and the temperature soars.

Looking to fit a 300tdi and possibly r380 in the future once my insurance drops.

I have looked at the discovery transfer box option and think I will probably go with it soon after speaking to some people.

    Cheers

Jamie, have a look at the sticker on the rear of your transfer box and see what ratio it is-you may find that it's got a 1:666 ratio transfer box on it, if so then that would answer why It's screaming as you say, Normal 90's/110's have a 1:410 ratio transfer box on them and some people including myself have the disco one which has a ratio of 1:222-which gives you longer legs, My personal choice but others have a different opinion on the conversion and not to everyone's taste

  8. Hi Souster-yes thats all I used and I'm sure you could do this-use the brake warning light for example, my LED light is drilled through the dash clock panel so it sits facing me in between the clocks-Speedo and temperature gauge It's a 3mm hole and the buzzer sits under the lip of the clock binnacle where the vents are as that allows any noise from the buzzer to be heard, the self test button is drilled through on the bottom of the binnacle where it's easy access and yes even at motorway speeds you can self test it and hear it too

  9. I've got vented calipers/disks etc. on my 90-I did do a lot of towing at one time and it did make a difference, It's a very simple thing to do and one thing I did do was convert my caliper pistons over to stainless steel pistons from Zeus engineering, they've been on there for 8 years now and are still like brand new-did the front and rears together, I got all of my parts from Craddock's and fitted it all together-It's a bolt on jobby
