  1. That won't work on a td5, the cv joints are grease filled inside cv boots

it could well be the front prop cardon centre bearing failing as mine was quite noisy as it failed

Mike, Why won't that work on a TD5-surely a c.v. joint is the same regardless off where it is?

  2. Take the filter off and fill it with diesel, then carefully replace the filter on the housing and tighten up the bolt that keeps it all together-this should remove the need to do too much bleeding of your fuel system, I do a similar thing when I do my 200 tdi engine servicing as it's one way of not finding somewhere to get rid of the diesel out out the old filter and it also means I don't have bugger about doing too much cranking to self bleed it.

  3. Looking at the link. It appears you have to drill the header tank to fit this. Is that right. How would that work on an aluminium header tank ?

Mike,Sorry for the late reply-I've been working onboard again, I didn't drill the header tank at all, I cut the two ring terminals off of the wiring that you would attach by the two self tappers and replaced them with two female spade connectors and then attached them to the RRC expansion cap, This works just as good as the original set up using two self tappers

  4. I know it's been a while, but thought I'd post again anyway.

It looks like the problem was a knackered glow-plug timer not turning off and drawing a constant forty amps or so. Replaced the relay with one which makes the noticeable 'thunk' when everything's toasty-warm and now the mpg's back up between 28mpg and 30mpg.

    Forty amps eh? Who'd-a-thunk it . . .

Forgive my Ignorance here, But how does the glow plug relay affect your fuel consumption?

  5. When I rebuilt my 90 onto a new galv'd chassis, I went to my local nut and bolt place and bought a load of M8 and M6 nuts(Nyloc's) bolts and washers, I'd already gone down the route of getting a quote over the phone from LR fasteners and really should've sat down before he told me the price, as much as they would've been spot on, the cost of going to my nut and bolt place was considerably less than LR fasteners

  6. Martin, I still think that your filter is'nt sitting properly onto the housing, Seeing as the only thing you have changed before this situation started was the fuel filter-have you missed anything else that you either replaced or fiddled with before it started to do what it does?

Are all of your connections i.e.: banjo bolts tight on the injectors,Fuel injection pump, fuel filter housing, leak off pipes and finally the fuel lift pump? and also check if any of the copper washers are missing from the leak off pipes from the injectors.

    John.

P.S. leave the RB and vodka alone for the night you might be able to solve it for work in the morning lol :hysterical:

  7. Sounds good Mike, I've always got one with me at work and Its a great bit of kit, I tried rechargeable LED lamp thingys and couldn't get on with them as they were more to me a hindrance than a help so I reverted back to the head torch and cracked on with that
