  2. boo, as i thought. thanks very much. in my googling today have heard good things about reconditioned ones from adwest. think thats what I'll have to do. thanks all!
  3. just to confirm my suspicions, i have some red fluid dripping on the floor whenever i stop my 300tdi. theres gunky oil around the boot on the lower part of the drop arm and oil around the top. is this my power steering box leaking? i'm off to the shops later and i'm going to pick up some of that magical stop leak stuff if it is! cheers all
  4. urg, i have those tyres i'm getting new ones in the summer, best stay off the motorways til then!
  5. is new to all this!

  6. i've heard that britpart yellows are the hardest things known to man and give the truck a harsh ride. truth or internet waffle?
  7. yup, geeky computer type so just going outside and getting my hands dirty is a change! thats great, thanks very much
  8. /googles grommet. ah, good shout. (new to all this stuff!) found this, may do the job too http://www.componentforce.com/en/category/363/flexible-blanking-plug
  9. my defender is an ex-utility company one and came with an amber beacon fitted to the roof. for several reasons (legal issues, can't fit in car parks) i'm taking it off, but this is going to leave a hole in the roof where it bolted on. its one hollow bolt, probably about 1/2 inch wide. any ideas how to blank off this hole, preferably easily and cheaply? :-) cheers
  10. i'm looking at similar. the problem i can see is getting to the battery under the passenger seat if you fit something "normal". slide out tray perhaps?
  11. i've just done this. i bought : egr removal kit 30 minutes to fit at most. dead easy. don't know about black plastic boxes, didn't look there! mine was same type as yours, but already had a cubby box fitted.
  12. as a newbie following this thread with interest, can you point us both in the direction of a few places that do these deals? who's good to buy from, who to avoid etc. many thanks!
  13. i bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270346285863&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT due to me being mechanically inept (but learning!) and it was super easy. plenty of penetrating spray the night before, good quality 6mm allen key and it came undone with a bit of straining! loads of black gunk inside the manifold. the kit even has a little rubber bung to block off the servo feed.
  14. thanks, but i was a bit misleading. i have a 110 hardtop 3 door, but find the rear springs a bit hard cos i run it empty most of the time.
  15. ooh, was going to ask about this too! where's best to get the station wagon ones from? oh, extra newby question, how do i know if i have self levelling suspension or not? cheers
