  1. The second solenoid advances the pump when the engine is cold, it's better left disconnected when fitted to a Land Rover as you don't have all the Isuzu sensors and solenoids.
  2. Hi all, I took the easy way out and fitted a warning light from RDX, this has a separate earth and solved the issues I had. Thanks for the replies as It saved me a lot of time, I don't know how long it would have been before I figured it out on my own. It would be helpful if RDX mentioned this in their instructions or even supplied a light with the kit as it must be a common problem or they would not have warning lights on the shelf.
  3. I have ordered a LED bulb from Bolt on bits, it must be more than just a LED bulb, I think he said it had a earth, I thought of trying other fixes like two dash lights, but did not want a bodge, so I hope this works. My son fitted LED's to his 300 TDI 110 without all this trouble.
  4. Thanks guys, I took the dash light out and the flashers worked, I would have taken ages to figure that out on my own. off to buy a led bulb, anyone know the type please.
  5. Early90, you say the same happened to you, did all four indicators flash at once?
  6. Its a new hazard switch, so I am wondering if I upset something when I fitted this, the trouble with old vehicles is the state of the looms and connections.
  7. Thanks JDexter, I have a proper flasher unit designed for the led indicators, I am interested in the adhesive lined heat shrink for the joint sealing I just used normal heat shrink, my son fitted the same to his 110, but its a lot newer so the plugs supplied were used a straight swap.
  8. I have fitted a set of RDX LED indicators to my 1984 Land Rover 90, fitting was the easy bit, my problem is the wiring, when fitted and all wired up with good soldered connections all four flash together, I have a proper RDX flasher unit (it does not matter how this is adjusted the problem still exists) the dash warning light is also very faint, before this the trailer warning light used to flash occasionally with out a trailer, I don't know if this has any significance, also the old flasher unit was damp inside. Thanks in advance Ronnie.
  9. It's Britpart I have as i changed them last year, I found the adjusters very soft and had to weld the cam on, IIRC I think some of the threads on assembly striped, just as well there was 4 in the pack, plus the cam was to small. I am planning to put a sleeve over the pin on the shoes so the cam will work better. I would be very annoyed to pay the genuine price and find Britpart supplied especially at that price.
  10. WOW that's some price difference between genuine LR and pattern Parts! I think the ones I fitted were blue box. Thanks Western.
  11. Where can I get new rear brake adjusters for my land Rover 90, I bought new snail cam type last year and was very disappointed with them as the cam was not big enough, they sort of worked at the time because I put new shoes on, now the shoes are worn a bit i cannot get the adjuster to work. Can anyone tell me where I can get good quality replacements, or will I need new back-plates? Thanks, Ronnie.
  12. Thanks for the replies, I would have thought if there were new nozzles and needles fitted the pressures would need resetting using a injector tester, I have access to one, but if one has to pi55 about with shims this would be difficult, having the right shims etc. I did read the landyzone article and he made no mention of testing the after fitting the new nozzles, incorrectly set they may be worse than badly worn injectors and that would be a waste of money and potentially engine damaging.
  13. How are the pressures on 200 TDI injectors adjusted? I am planning to fit new nozzles to mine and I am wondering how to set them once fitted, I have access to a injector pressure tester so I can set the pop pressure if this is easily done, I don't want to buy new nozzles and then find I need shims or something like that.
  14. Hi, on My 200 TDi the oil pressure seems to be 10-15 at idle hot, and 25 running hot, today was the first time I got the engine properly hot, I just fitted the engine two weeks ago to replace the Izuzu that was in my 90.
  15. Hi, I am about to convert my Land Rover 90 to a 200 TDI from a Disco, I have a TD clutch housing that I was going to use, but I am a bit worried that it won't be strong enough at the bottom as the Disco one bolts to the ladder frame. I would be gald of eny advice, and any experiences people have had, do they leak if the TD ones are used? Maybe I should not be lazy and just tap and drill the Disco housing I have. Thanks, Ronnie.
  16. The land rover is a 1984 with discs on the front, it's just I can't find replacement ajusters for the 90 and was wondering if the series ones are the same.
  17. Hi, are the Rear Axle brake ajusters on Land Rover 90's the same as Series versions, mine are siezed and rounded off and I only see Series replacements for sale. also are the front and rear the same size. Thanks, Ronnie.
  18. Les thanks for the information, takeing the washers out is what Iam going to try, but unsure if 1mm closer will cause drag or not I supose the thing to do is compare the land rover friction plate with a new Isuzu one, I have heard that valeo plate's are thinner, which might be another solution. Ronnie.
  19. Hi, Last year I fitted a new clutch to my Land rover, which is fitted with a Isuzu 2.8. The reason I fitted the clutch was it was slipping under load and the pedal was biteing quite far out so I thought the friction plate would be worn out. When I striped the clutch I found the pressure plate was spaced with 1mm washers this did nor surprise me as I have heard this was how the conversion's were done, but also the friction plate was not that worn and when I put a new clutch cover and friction plate back in the pedal still bites well out and now after a year slips when under load, so it's back to square one.the clutch on the conversion is an Isuzu cover to match the flywheel and a Land Rover friction plate to match the gearbox splines, what I am planning is to try the setup with out the washers, and would like some opinions as how much difference bringing the pressure plate 1mm closer tho the flywheel will make, i.e. will the clutch clear? 1mm dose not seem much but will it make a big difference to the set up? Thanks, Ronnie.
  20. Lee, I bought one of these necks off *-bay, just bought it yesterday so I don't know what it's like for fitting, I think the hose from the tank is different because the new later type neck is a smaler diameter pipe. I was looking for a later type of hose and the only ones I could find were on LR direct by useing part numbers (very expensive for a rubber hose)so I will have to phone around and see if I can get one cheaper most other people dont seeem to have them on thier sites.I would be greatfull if anyone could piont out a supplier for this hose thats less than £35-£45. Thanks, Ronnie.
  21. Hi, Due to corrosion I have to change the metal filler neck on my 1984 Land Rover 90, the thing has pin holes thus letting in water to the tank, I spent a good while taking the tank off and trying to get the water and carp out on Christmas day. I wonder if i can swap necks from the later type,I know i will have to get a new rubber pipe, but is the size on the tank the same for early and late types? I know there are other tank differances. Also due to water in the fuel I may have got microbiological contamination can any one tell me what form this takes. Thanks, Ronnie.
  22. Hi, My 90 dose the same and I was wondering if the cold weather has anything to do with it. I have not looked yet but another cause my be brake dust or oil, although you may see oil on the lower part of the back plate but not nessesarely if it's at the early stage of leaking. Regards, Ronnie.
  23. Hi, Iam with Adrian Flux, no trouble with my 90 2.8 Isuzu fitted, got Insurance for £185 last March fully comp. Regards, Ronnie.
  24. Hi, Iam in the middle if changeing the cluch and gearbox of my 1984 LR 90 fitted with an Isuzu 2.8 TD, the clutch was sliping so when the Gearbox was out I decieded to look at the mainshaft splines, and they were very worn, worn to a knife edge. So there is nothing for it but to put a recon box in, I will also need to fit a new input gear to the Transfer box. hence my questune how do you set up the taper bearings on the input gear in the transfer box? The Gearbox is a LT77 and the transfer box Is a LT230. Thanks, Ronnie.
  25. Dose anyone know the size of thread that is used on a temp sender on a 2.5 diesel, the reason I want to know is that i want to fit a new sender to my Isuzu 2.8 and I reckon the 2.5 should be a match to the gauge. The 5/8 UNF one from a Mini fits but gives a hot reading, and i see a 2.5 Land Rover one on sale but don't know if it's 5/8 UNF. Ronnie
