  1. Hi Anyone got any thoughts about snorkels and using them in snow?
  2. Hi Could someone please tell me the part number for the gasket that sits under the outside bracket that is bolted onto the windscreen and bulkhead on either side of a defender. (the bracket is the alloy cast one that the paint always seems to fall off) Many thanks Ian
  3. Hi I had the same problem on a 1995 defender 90 and that turned out to be the main light swtich on the steering column. The copper terminal spots wear so you dont get good electrical contact, Has to be said I also made the mistake of buying a cheap switch that didnt last very long. Got a genuine one that has lasted ages and is still going strong. Hope thats of some help.
  4. Cheers I shall try there. Anyone know the max working pressure of the arb compressor?
  5. Hi all I have an arb high output compressor which has an air pressure cut out switch as they all do set at 100 psi off and a restart when the pressure drops below 70 psi. Im trying to find the what the max out put of the arb compressor is (without finding out the costly and rather noisey route) The reason being im running onboard air from 2 arb highout compressors to a smallish tank rated at 150 psi. Has anyone pushed arb compressors up to 120/130 psi ??? Do they survive long ??? How hot do they get ??? The next question being does anyone know where you can get the the pressure cut off switches at different ratings? Around the 90psi on / 130psi off Many thanks
  6. I know this sounds real basic but have you checked the battery hasn't lost charge? Just a thought
  7. In an attempt to bring things full circle, on the whole it seems most people had a good time which ever show they went to. Some niggles were had at each venue lets just hope that they get sorted for next year. We can but hope. One thing I do believe there is a space for is a post on customer service in the international forum relating to the bad and GOOD experinces had by customers. This allows others to see if an outlet is living up to expectation.
  8. Telescopic magnet (looks like a pen) for when you drop the nut out the socket in those hard to get at places. I bet a few people have been there!!!!!!
  9. One summer show in a central location with all present, magazines and traders alike. Drop the one up manship and all pull together. Likewise I think an indoor winter show would also be a move in the right direction again with all present. ( I know that isnt exactly in line with the whole camping theme but I think it would still get a fair share of visitors) Sound like a good idea?
  10. Just a note Mr Grumpy was like this on Friday afternoon lord only knows what he was like on sunday!!!! MANTEC's prices were a little cheaper and they were giving discount as I spoke to them and they were very very helpful. They just didnt do the product I wanted (side window grills for an early 90 with the window latch space in) or they would have had the sale.
  11. To be honest the attitude Mr Grumpy had if MANTEC had of done the grills as I wanted them I would have paid more just so I didnt give NENE OVERLAND the money. I bought mobile storage system products to as it goes.
  12. Funny you should say that about NENE OVERLAND, I was there on Friday and when asking about the price of internal window grills and if there were and show prices. I was firmly put in my place that there "was no show prices" the only reason I had to buy from Mr Grumpy was that I wanted grills that I could still get to the window latch and MANTEC's didnt have them like that for an earlier Defender. Trust me I will only be using NENE OVERLAND from now on if no one else does the product I want. All the other traders I talked to or bought from were very helpful and NOT Mr Grumpy.
  13. I've searched but can not find. Is there a LR paint colour chat on here some place that shows a pic of the colour, what models they were used on and when? Thank you
  14. Hi All windows finished now, I will add a picture when i figure out how. The only issue I have now is that the first 2 windows I did were the small rear ones and they look pants to how I managed to get the others to come out. I could be going round in circles here but you kno where Im going now. The dilema is do I do those 2 again so they look as good as the others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna think about it over lunch.
  15. As the title says Who went were? And what did you think? I went to Billing on Friday and just avoided getting soaked!!!!!!!!
  16. Half way through a side window and I run out of tint. What a fiasco this is turning out to be. Off to get some more today, I guess its still working out cheaper than paying a company to do it. A trick I have picked up is to use a hard card / spreader with a bit of kitchen roll over it. Ease's out the bubbles with less chance of scratching the film or digging into it.
  17. I dont think I'm quite ready for curved glass, flat bits are tricky enough for now!
  18. I found a few clips on youtube which have helped. I've got the back windows done now after taking them out, lots of water and fairey seems to work. Having dogs and doing window tinting dont seem to go together even when you shut them out. I have a few hairs in the back ones just for good measure.!!!!! Side ones to go now, taking them out is going to be loads of drilling but hey ho. I had to take one out to put in a new bit of glass. U know its going to leak when it goes back even if I do use a stack of mastic.
  19. I think its remove the windows time with a gallon of water and a bottle of fairey (other washing up liquids are available) Is some film better or thicker than others?
  20. Evening I've just come in from the garage and this film tint is driving me crazy trying to do the back windows and side sliding windows on my 90 in an attempt to stop the thieving so & so's from seeing in so easily and steeling my stuff. I'm off to Billing on friday to get some internal grills to add to the security as well. Whats the secret? I,m using water and soap on the window and film and there's bubbles all over it. Are there different qualities of the film? Any suggestions would be helpfull (other than get a tinitng company to do it) Cheers
  21. So internal window grills it is. Does one of the manufacture's stand out over the others for ease of fitting or quality? I'm off to Billing on Friday so if they have them there a purchase will be made.
  22. Thankyou for the fast reply Mr Oracle of land rover bits. Are the there any prons or cons to internal or external grills ?
  23. Hi Just wondering if anyone knows where the grills that go over the rear windows and the sliding side windows can be purchased other than ebay? There has to be some way to stop the thieving pikies breaking in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers
  24. Anyone know of any good alarm fitting companies in Kent? i.e they are used to working with defenders ? Cheers
