  1. I'm hauling a container down to Tilbury docks and then round to Thamesport tonight. I'll keep my eyes open for ye. Kris
  2. Sold for the big wad of £222 at 16:09 8/10/09 Right lads.... Come on now... Own up... Which one of you sadistic Landie Lovers actually bought it?
  3. I'm not in any way an expert but i would be thinking about what would happen in a head on collision. All the force of the person in the seat will be directed on the seat back and the ratchet that holds it upright. In a forward facing seat all the force goes into the seat belt therefore the person in the back would crush the front passengers. I would be thinking of bracing the top of the seat back in some way. Kris
  4. Hi there, i would like your thoughts on wether you lot think a beginner welder like myself should invest in one of these to fix the sills, rear arches and rear body x-member. I was going to save up and get a Mig welder which my bro inlaw can teach me use and i'm told Mig's better for welding panel work. I won't be doing anything with the chassis as cautioned earlier in this thread. As you guys say it is a real bargain but if it's not suitable for the job (or a begginer) then it's 30 quid better spent elsewhere. Thanks Kris
  5. Nothing wrong with my Volvo I-shift. I love it to bits. I wonder how good an Audi/VW DSG box would be in a Landie?
  6. Thanks for all your comments, makes good reading . Kris
  7. Thanks for all your comments lads. All of you have cheered me up and put me back in the right frame of mind to get going again. Thanks, Kris
  8. I thought Overfinch used Chevrolet 5.7 engines?
  9. Hi lads. Just a thought that i aint seen a Hemi in a Landie. I've seen the Chevy LS engines in but not the Chrysler Hemi's. While on holiday in the states a year or so ago i had a Chrysler 300C with a 5.7 Hemi V8 in it and really liked the noise. I would think a Defender with an SRT8 6.1 would be very nice. If there aren't any can anyone give any thoughts on why the LS1 engine is used over it. Thanks Kris
  10. needs a new back garden

  11. Thanks for the support guys . Of course you are right. Don't know what got into me thinking about quiting . If i ever talk like that again you have my permission to come round and slap me in the face (If am home, usually away in Hotel Volvo during the week ). ThreeSheds- You can't be that far away from me if your near M1/M62. I'm originally from South East Leeds but i live in Wakey now. Thanks again, a rejuvinated Kris
  12. Thanks for the advice ThreeSheds . At this rate there will be no original metal left on my Rangie . This is to go on top of replacing the rear floor/rear X-member/both sills and patching the outer rear wheel arches on the C post . All this before i can turn my attention to other faults such as cruise inop/heated elec seats and door mirrors inop/ new rear exhaust/ fixing cross threaded manifold bolts/ unexplained battery drain/ bent steering rod and damper/ 4 new tyres/ replacing several worn bushes..... the list goes on . I'm very tempted at the mo to just give up and break her and save up for a P38 but i just can't bring myself to break my 1st Landie , plus she's an LSE, although i'm not sure how rare they are at the mo. I don't want to kill one of a limited number. Sorry for the rant but i'm a bit depressed and daunted at the moment . Thanks again Kris.
  13. Don't suppose you've got any pictures of what you did have you? Thanks Kris
  14. Hi there, you will prob have seen the rot on my Rangie from my other posts. I went digging again today and didn't like what i found. Holes in the bottom of the sills under the A and C posts, both sides. A big hole on the inside of the n/s A post in the foot well. Strangely the rest of the sills and all the floors are solid. From looking at Orange's Rangie i think all this repairable with time. The real killer for me tho is the rot i found round the n/s/f body mount were the back of the inner wing meets the bulkhead. Now the inner wing i think i could have done but the bulk head i think is too much as i think this would mean the dash out and alot of other complications. Please correct me if it's a job on a par with sills/rear X-member/inner wing etc but i seriously doubt it. The only other option is to plate round it but i'm almost certain that you lot will comfirm my worst fears and tell me thats a no no. If so i think i will have an a 93 LSE up for breaking. Thanks for your advice, a very depressed Kris.
  15. A couple more i couldn't fit on 1st post.
  16. Hi there , just posting some more piccys of my rusty Rangie . I don't think it's that bad judging some of the pics of others i've seen . I'm thinking of new rear cross member and floor (obviously ) and plating up the other holes i have found. Again all comments are appreciated. Thanks Kris.
  17. The rest of her isn't too bad from what i can see on the outside (I'm no expert ) ie the sills etc... There is a small hole near the N/S/F mounting point on the inner wing and a bit of bubbling near the bottom of the door jams. The back end is the only thing that really stands out at the mo. I will take more piccys next weekend so you can see. Thanks Kris
  18. Hi peeps, here are a few piccys of my rusty LSE. Do i need to replace the floor and rear X-member or would any of you repair this? Thanks Kris
  19. Aaah (lightbulb above head moment ). I'll need a really strong spring for me then (Truck drivers bum ) Thanks Kris
  20. no prob m8 , i would rather hear your honest opinions and suffer an ear bashing so long as i learn something .
  21. Why the different springs on LH and RH Front? Thanks Kris
  22. Guess i'm showing i'm a newbie at this, that's why i joined this forum so i only make an ass off myself on here and not out n about with my landie. Big learning curve for me. I'll try not to embarass myself again. Kris
